changing picture filesize

How do you change a picture's filesize when trying to upload it from your computer to set as an avatar picture? It says that it must be less than 48 Kib and mine is 53.6. How do you change this? I can't figure it out.

Are you running a PC or a Mac? For PC see the image resizing software link in the thread above.
For Mac you can resize using Preview.

On a pc if you don't have any fancy photo editing software open the file in paint, select re-size and change the units to pixels and enter the pixel number you want for length and width. Then you save the image as a different file name, and you've got your avatar.

what would be a non-photo image file that you want to shrink? A Word file has it's own properties to adjust in it's software.

Like a sports team logo you would find on google images.

you would right click to save it, and it's an image file, most likely a .jpeg. Resize like any other image file.
