Trouble with using the back page tab.
I was wondering if it's just my computer or if anybody has problems using the backpage tab in the upper left of your screen while on the website, or particularily the forum? Sometimes I can backpage just fine, but most of the time it will not let me go backward, I have to re load the main forum page.

We need details. What Operating System, what Browser (and Version #) are you using?
I use IE 7 and FF3 and have never seen this problem before.

Quad I've been having the same problem using vista, Internet explorer. Sometimes i have to hit back 3 to 4 times to get back to the previous page or reload the page completely. You're not the only one.

Well, I am at least glad to hear that. It is rather frustrating when you click fast 3-4 times to try and engage it... and then you find yourself way back past where you want to be.tommytitan08 wrote:Quad I've been having the same problem using vista, Internet explorer. I am having same problem but thought it was because I am a basic member. I use windows xp and ie. I tried the firefox browser and then the back button worked fine. I never had problems with back button until the new website started up. Hope this info helps.

Its because Vista is evil. We upgraded to Vista and ended up going back to XP due to software compatibility problems. Im hoping Windows 7 doesnt have these issues.

I think I must be an idiot... I am actually using XP. I just got an upgrade for all my guts to the computer this weekend, and I have a copy of Vista in my office so I was thinking for some reason that I was running it... whatever!#-o

I''ll need to be able to reproduce this problem in order to fix it. Describe to me how you use the forum. Are there particular pages you use often to watch for new posts? Does it happen right way or only after you've been on the site for awhile?

RE:Trouble with using the back page tab.
I click on a post read it then try to back out but i have to hit the back tab two or three times before the page title changes. I can hit back with out the page title changing until the 2nd or 3rd time. Then i can continue to read forums.

RE:Trouble with using the back page tab.
For me... I enter the forum starting page,, then maybe click into any one of the forums, freshwater, classifieds, whatever........ read some threads and replies etc. usually go through 1-2 pages of reading the replies to the thread. Now I decide to backpage a couple pages to get back to the main forum page, suddenly I can't go back,, so I have to go up to the Community tab and click it again to get back to the forum main page.
Like I said, I am actually running xp and I think it is IE vers. 6 but not sure how to know this.
The problem is intermittent, can't seem to find a pattern to when it occurs. Sorry, I don't feel like much of a help on this.

Is it only a forum thing?
Does it happen on EVERY forum? or just some of them?
When you find yourself in this situation, and press the dropdown arrow next to the back button, what does it show there?

RE:Trouble with using the back page tab.
aaron it doesn't do it all the time just a majority of the time but the item i show at the top of the dropdown arrow next to the back tab reads like this http://www.washingtonlakes.com/forum/ya.

RE:Trouble with using the back page tab.
Under normal conditions it should list all of the pages you have been to. For example, I use the Active Topics page a lot and will click on a post, read it, then click Back to get back to the active list and select another post. It should look like this while I am reading a post:
http://www.washingtonlakes.com/forum/ya ... ind=unread
http://www.washingtonlakes.com/forum/yaf_active.aspx
Clicking back will take me back to the active page....
What I'm wondering is if yours looks something like this:
http://www.washingtonlakes.com/forum/ya ... ind=unread
http://www.washingtonlakes.com/forum/ya ... ind=unread
http://www.washingtonlakes.com/forum/ya ... ind=unread
http://www.washingtonlakes.com/forum/yaf_active.aspx
I know it might be a pain, but next time it happens when you click Back and nothing happens, click Forward to go back to where you were, and take a look and write it down for me.

RE:Trouble with using the back page tab.
I'm at work now, and I jsut used IE 6 to reproduce the problem, and it is just as I suspected. It's the Ad thats showing. It's doing something wierd on the page. I'm getting something like this:
http://www.outdorrtal.com/iframe.php?r=
http://www.outdorrtal.com/iframe.php?r=
http://www.washingtonlakes.com/forum/ya
http://www.washingtonlakes.com/forum/ya
The iframe where the Ad is loading is doing something that is being caught by the browser and stored in the History so when you hit Back you're only undoing what the iframe did... and it takes 2 or 3 clicks to get back to the actual browsing history which is when it appears to work, and actually takes you back to where you were.
I'll talk to our Ad people and see what they can do.
