Different rods & reels

Do you use a different rod for different types of fishing? For me I like to use a certain one for trolling and a certain one for casting

I have a driffrent rod and real for every species. For some species I even have 2 or 3. I know some bass fisherman that have 10 or 12 poles with a diffrent lure on eack one. I also know people who have difrent set ups foe difrent fish of the same species. Largemouth and smallmouth, king salmon, steel head , and coho salmon. I alwys bring at least 2 poles every time I hit the water, just in case, and when I leave for the weekend Ill bring at least 10 poles

Ditto for me gpc.
I have 8 rod and reel combos.
I use a spinning reel when trout fishing and finnese fishing, drop shotting, for bass. I have light tackle (4'6" for crappie and trout and heavy 6'+ for larger species) I use a bait caster and a rod with a strong back bone when fishing for bass doing the jig, texas rigged, carolina rigged, or tossing a spinner blade. Can't forget the fly rods too.
It all depends on the situation, fish and bait.
I too always carry 2 rods with me when I hit the water. If you want me to get into specifics I can, but I don't want to bore you.
Here is a good article that applies for bass fishing and the different combos to use.

I have been really thinking about taking an extra combo with me on trips, just so I can switch to a different setup quicker if I want that option instead of spending a bit of time re-rigging. Also it is a good idea in case I have any problems with one of my combos.

For trout fishing a lone it works out great. I have onepolerigged up for plunking powerbait and one tied up for spinning. Ill usually throw out my powerbait when Im tying on a new spinner just to minimize my "non fishing" time

Too many to keep track of. It seems like every time I try a new to me fishery I buy a couple of new outfits. I probably have 40+ reels and 60+ rods. I should probably thin the herd some but can't seem to part with any of them.

There is no rod that that is suitable for all types of fishing. If you are going to target more than one type of fish you will want a rod matched to each type. And having extra rods is nice so that you dont have to keep retying your rig. Also, slamming your rod in the car door or tailgate is disastrous for your fishing trip if you don't have a spare. I always have multiple fishing poles with me.

2- 6' medium action trout spinning rods
1-6'6" medium action spinning
1- 7' Spinning medium action
2-7'6" medium action spinning
