Post by Marc Martyn » Thu Nov 29, 2007 12:24 am

I just watched the 2007 Guitar Crossroads concert in Chicago. Wow. Had I an opportunity to be at that concert, I would have thought I died and went to heaven!
Anyone get a chance to see it.?

Never have seen it...but after reading the list of performers on PBS' website, it would appear to be a show I would like to have seen. There is some great guitarists listed. Was it musical only, or was there vocals as well?

A little bit of all the best. A must to see. What is fun for me is to see how these guys have evolved through the years since the dawn of the "British Invasion", The Beatles, Creme, Yardbirds, The Jeff Beck Group, etc. As young bands back then, they were studying and following in the footsteps of the great blues artists, Blind Willie McTell, Howlin' Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Lightnin Hopkins, Muddy Waters and many others.

Along with several of the old masters, John Mayer did a fantastic set as usual.

Marc,

If you want a return trip to Heaven, I can probably get you a recording of that event. I will let you know.

I did some searching on Youtube for more on the concert. Apparently the DVD is 4 hours long (2 discs). Beck did a fantastic version of "A Day In The Life"!
Can't wait to get the DVD
