Collection of old fishing rods

Post by FlyBassFisherman253 » Sun Jan 27, 2013 6:30 pm

So my grandfather passed away back in '09 he didn't really fish much about ten years prior to his death due to the fact of my grandma's alziehmers. When he did fish though; he loved every minute of it whether he got skunked or slammed over bites. Anyway my father and I found some of his old rods and boy did he like to keep stuff put away. I would like to start off with the most unique rod of his collection which is a all bamboo fly rod. It comes in this little hard tube like case to hold the upper pieces of the rod for they don't break any eyes, looks really old yet in fishable condition i believe. Second is by a brand called Penguin the rod is its executive series 6'9 I think but this rod has a loose rod tip i dont really wanna replace it because that would take away all the authentic parts. You can do that. Third is two Kennewick fishing rods from about the 70's or 80's. Can really see what the specific model due to age wear over the labeling but really good rods nonetheless. Also an old fennewick fly rod. I mean it when I say this folks this rods are old but they still have some mileage left on them for any angler who remembers the good old rods a lot of people grew up using before everything went all high tech. Now the fourt brand rod is Golden Gate rod company; this rod has my favorite really flexible rod action. All of these rods do, easily catch steelhead maybe ever salmon if played right. Anyway I almost forgot about the Kennewick lunker stick with baitcaster trigger. This rod is one bad mama used to catch striped bass in california. Contact my screen name and will exchange emails for pictures for anybody wanting to take a better look. Dont think oh they are old nobody wants to fish that old trash when u have rods of carbon fiber and stuff. the point is you can't beat the good old American craftsmanship that used to go into these rods. Now we are talking mostly machine right ? All these rods work and I would bet my left leg they will catch fish after fish for a few more seasons. My grandpa always took pride in keeping his outdoor stuff in great shape. That was the service man in him. Thanks for reading. Tight lines everybody ! [:p ( oh yeah as far as not having pics with the post is Because my phone isn't letting me. Also the site isn't that easy to navigate through if your new to this kinda stuff.)
