Have you looked at the creek company lt, or XT, or any of the 8 foot boats?
I picked d up the lt for 200 shipped from cabelas and bought the motor mount kit for 150.
I've yet to take it out, but it looks great!

lots of toons on CL. Sometimes even under $400, I doubt you'll find a Skagit for that kind of price unless someone has grabbed the name from Scadden. Good luck,

Sent you a PM about the one I have for sale. I think it would fit your needs nicely and I even have a trolling motor to go with it.

Theres a guy named steve in shoreline, he sold me a wilderness 12 (new in box) with everything but the pump for 150.
He has them on craigslist every once and a while. He said his buddy works for them? or something like that. But anyways for the price its hard to beat. They arent the best boats but if your looking for a good deal.

father n law picked up a wilderness 11 at costco for less then 400. I now have adopted it due to him being unable to use it. Works awesome in lakes, have yet to try it in a river. I will say this, it feels a little narrow for its length. I would like it to be another foot or so wider. It came with a motor mount in which I added a 34 lb electric on it and it cruises right along and is very easy to row at trolling speeds with out the motor.

Check out Costco, they have a pontoon setup that comes with just about everything you need to get started sans electric motor and battery for well under $400.

Anything small enough to need those stirrup-like foot bars (instead of a cross bar and some type of floor) is too small for a river (just my opinion of course)

.
With that said - check this out...
