Spring Canyon boat launch

Post by Stikman » Wed Jan 09, 2019 2:17 pm

The wife and I are thinking about launching above the dam at Spring Canyon launch. Have never fished there this time of year and was curious as to what condition the ramps are in. Is there any numbers that I could call to get an update on the condition of the launch and the roads going down to it?. Thanks for your help

No numbers to call, monitor reservoir level, weather, and NPS website (not being updated during shutdown). The biggest concern will be whether NPS decides to barricade ramps as was done during shutdowns in the past. Since NPS is not updating their website I don't know how you'll know. If I hear the ramps have been closed I'll post on the forum.

Thank you, Hewes!!! From what I've heard, all ramps are still open (so far) Looking at the forecast, looks like there "should" be no issues at the ramp, we're keeping our fingers crossed. I guess I just gotta keep tabs on ice at the ramp from others launching.

Confirmed as of yesterday morning all ramps still open (except Hawk Creek which is closed for other reasons).

No way to predict weather conditions that may cause icing at the launch. If anglers would take a few minutes to stop at water's edge and let boat and trailer drain before driving up it would help with ramp icing. For some, that's too much effort.

Hope you have a safe trip and good fishing! [wink]
