Best Ultralight Lures For Small Bass

Post by noah the angler » Mon Feb 25, 2019 8:14 pm

Whats up, I fish a lake with bass, bluegill, and trout. the bass do not get vary big, and you use ultralight for rainbows and bluegill. But for bass what are the best ultralight hard baits and soft baits. I thinking about lures like the snapbean by Yo Zuri and like Arkie crappie cranks. So I can catch those less than 2 pound bass. Also I am interested in the trigger x and creme brands can any of you tell me if their ultra light lures are any good. thanks, tight lines and good fishing

Weightless 4 inch senko set up is a great go to for using sensitive gear for bass

try a ned rig bud. your ultra light trout rig will work great for it and you might even pick off a good sized holdover or 2 with it

It's pretty fun, I've caught all kinds of fish on it. Seems like everything will bite it at times lol. It was my secret go to when I couldn't buy a bite :-$

I grew up on a small lake in Federal Way and always had a blast using small Rapalas. We would just twitch them on the surface for bluegills and small bass, loads of fun! If the lure was close enough to the boat, we could see bass hovering below the lure. Would wiggle the rod tip so the plug kind of shook on top of the water and more times than not, they would hit it.

I have one that is a "swimmer" and it's fooled more than a couple 5+ pound fish.
Anyways, a small curly tail grub on a jig head, spinners up to size 2, small road runners jigs are 3 really good choices.
Live target has a couple small cranks that are money for smaller fish.

Ever try a Slip Bobber and jig for smaller bass? Crappie Magnet to be exact. I’ve caught plenty of LMB on this set up. At Langlouis you can catch smaller ones all day this way.

I would try a small paddle tail swimbait like a 2" Crappie Dapper from Bass Assassin. They catch bass, trout and panfish really well. Fish it on a small jig like a 1/16oz. I love tiny hard baits on light line in lakes with lots of small bass. Lucky Craft LV-70jr lipless cranks have been killer, but any small lipless should work. Little jerkbaits can be really good too. A size 6 or even 4 X-Rap can be killer. Lucky Craft Pointer 65 and 65DD have caught me a lot of fish too. Small spinnerbaits can also be effective. Strike King Mini Kings are a good, cheap option. One of the things I enjoy so much about bass fishing is that there are so many ways to catch them. There are many other light lures you can use for them, but this is a good start.

They’re pretty killer for just about everything. I highly recommend them.
