multiple hooks on one line?

Post by big fish lite line » Mon Apr 21, 2008 3:01 pm

I had an interesting Idea of setting up a 2 hook power bait rig.

first I would slide a 1/2 ounce egg weight over my line
second I would tie A swivel on the line
third I would tie a 8 foot leader and single hook to the swivel
fourth I would tie a blood dropper knot 4 feet above the swivel
fifth I would put a single hook on the loop I made
Sixth I would put powerbait on each hook

basically I would have a set up that would allow me to fish at two different depths with 2 globs of powerbait

I was pretty confused reading the regs...does any body know if this is legal?

3 separate hooks are legal, most places.

Hey big fish,

It sounds like a good idea for figureing out at what depth the fish are. When I was first getting into fishing I took a seminar at the parks and rec and our instructor showed us a setup with three seperate hooks at three depths to use at a new spot to figure out where the fish are. One piece of advice I have been given is that if you put an egg sinker above a swivel you should thread a small bead between the sinker and swivel to protect the knot on the swivel.

Good luck!

I've done it before, and it works just fine. I do advise that you consider circle hooks, because with that much leader, you will take a lot of fish really deep.

Never mind, if you use powerbait, or any bait, just take home the first limit you catch because you are done for the day.#-o
Too much water, so many fish, too little time.
