chester morse lake cedar falls
I was doing some more map scouting and came across this huge lake that for some reason I've never looked into. It's out by rattlesnake. I was wondering if any of you on here have made it out to this lake. It's not stocked, looks like small roads in with no civilization around for miles. I'm guessing it's probably on logging land, but I wanted to get some of your imput before I start planning an expedition.
thanks
thanks

If it looks fishy, Then fish it, If it dont look fishy, fish it anyways. <')}}}}><

Try the Seattle City water supply. Video surveillance around the lake. There are juicy big trout in there (don't ask me how I know). If you go near it they will hunt you like a dog and toss you in jail!!!!! Can you say Homeland Security!!!!

RE:chester morse lake cedar falls
Don't bother... it's closed. Chester Morse Lake is a drinking water supply and has been closed to the public as long as I can remember. There should be a nice high fence with warning signs up near any access point. Don't get caught trying to sneak in, after the 911 attacks folks trying to gain unlawful access to a city's water supply can end up with a free trip to Gitmo.

I do 4 wheeling in the Tinkham area quite a bit. When you reach the tip top of the Tinkham area you can see Chester Morse Lake. Its a gorgeous site. Its our watershed lake.I dont know how many here go off roading but that whole area from exit 38 to Asaheal Curtis is beautifull 4 wheeling area.In winter 4 wheel drive is a must but I've done two wheel in summer.Take a camera .That is a must...
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

I would do my recon efforts ninja style. Camo outfit, camo rod, camo fishing line and no red/white bobbers.
I heard a story 15-20 years ago that it has nice sized trout.

That whole area is the Cedar River Watershed. It supplies drinking water for the greater Seattle area. I was on a tour of it last summer. For about $15 you can take a guided bus tour with about 30 people into the watershed. You get to hear all about the history of the area, walk across the dam, get off the bus again lakeside further along, learn all about where the water comes from and where it goes. Very cool few hours to spend. And neat history. Did you know that a town was once built where Rattlesnake Lake now is? When they built the dam for the watershed, the water seeped up from the ground and flooded the town.
Also, if anyone hikes, go up to Rattlesnake Ledge, and on a sunny day there's a great view of the valley and Chester Morse Lake.
BTW, I don't work for the watershed. I just think it's pretty cool.

RE:chester morse lake cedar falls
In the late 70's we used to move "the log" on the top of the ridge, you know which one. Then have someone drive us down to shorten the walk. The last trip in they sent out helicopters and we had to hide for many hours before sneaking out. It was a long walk. Last fishing trip there.racfish wrote:I do 4 wheeling in the Tinkham area quite a bit.

RE:chester morse lake cedar falls
The person that told me about fisihing it 15-20 years ago had to do some hiding also.
A few years ago the watershed property was checkerboarded, part watershed and part other. Some people would use helicopters and get dropped into the open areas and bowhunt elk there. I believe there was a later landswap that made almost all of the land watershed land.

RE:chester morse lake cedar falls
well my waders are camo, and I have been meaning to add a brisk jog to my hikes. I might be able to kill two birds with one stone here. Lets see:
water
protein bars
light rod and tackle
bolt cutters
smoke grenades
getaway truck with canada plates
I figured from the satellite photos there had to be something more to it. A body of water that size is bound to have huge fish in it, and with so many anglers around the access roads would have looked more traveled.
Is the tolt reservoir on the same kind of restrictions? That body of water had peaked my interest also.

Roger that, Gain! The Tolt Reservoir is off limits and just in case your eyes continue to wander on the map, ditto for Lake Youngs.

OK, so what about some fishing info about Chester Morse lake... worth the trip?
Is it windy, or would 9' pontoon boats be practical?

Re: chester morse lake cedar falls
It used to have some really big rainbows. And that's all I'm going got say about it. I think Homeland Security would be not too sympathetic to anyone trying to fishing there these days.
