New bunks or bunk style rollers
New bunks or bunk style rollers
I have a 14ft fiberglass boat with an 20hp motor...I need to replace the bunks on my trailer. Should I put new bunks on (seems easy enough) or should I put the bunk style rollers on? Anyone have any experience with the bunk style rollers? They come in 4 or 5 ft bunks with rollers.
RE:New bunks or bunk style rollers
I think rollers are the worst idea for any boat trailer. I had rollers on my first boat and they never line up properly, and if the rollers fall off or get damaged they cause damage to the hull of the boat. I think the ideal setup nowadays are the bunks with plastic or delrin type skid plating on them to allow the boat to slide easily onto the bunks. The best part about bunks is that if you put them into the water the right distance (2/3 of the way in leaving about 1/3 above water) the boat goes onto them straight almost 100% of the time.

I think E-Z Loader makes a product that looks similar to this:
