Bilge Pump Mounting

Post by kodacachers » Fri Oct 11, 2013 4:58 pm

So this is probably a dumb question, but you guys are more handy than me....
I need a new bilge pump. I can wire it up no problem but how on earth do you get underneath an I/O motor to mount the base? I was hoping to find a pump that fits the mounting bracket installed (Attwood v750) but new Attwoods are oval instead of round. Anyone solved this problem? or should i start yoga to try and get my hands and drill under the motor?
Thanks!!

My bilge pumps aren't mounted to anything, they just sit on the bottom. The hoses hold them in place.

same with my boat, the bilge pump just sits on the floor under the battery trays and fuel tanks...

FYI in case anyone else has the issue. My pump wouldn't stay upright under the motor so I mounted it to a piece of aluminum. it slides around a bit but seems to stay in place. Thanks for your advice!!

Most bilge pumps are mounted to a piece of wood by either a bracket that comes with or a silicone adhesive, then that piece of wood is mounted to the boat bottom via same silicone adhesive. no drilling required. :)
