Any aluminum boat welders in the seattle area?

Post by Ditch Pickler » Sat Feb 21, 2009 8:31 pm

Noticed my g3 has been taking in water slowly. So i left the water in the boat and let it outside dry to see where the water leaks out from. Got a stress crack on the rear middle support arm thats welded to the bottom of the boat. Its cracked right on the weld so it shouldnt be that hard to fix with an experience welder.

If anyone knows a place that works on boat hulls in seattle please let me know! Its not major damage, but i would like to avoid future damages

Thanks in advance...

If you are heading up to Bellingham any time soon, I could do it for you. I run my own metal fab shop and I also build aluminum boats full time.

I'd 2nd Glenn's Welding in Lynnwood.

I had them build an aluminum transom riser for my engine and it turned out great. Their prices are good and the people are really friendly.

I called them up and they are very friendly! But Their prices actually are a bit higher than expected and compared to other shops. They charge $98 an hour. So i did a little calling around and found a place on lake union that only charges $60 an hour. Just dropped the boat off. I was glad to see they work on aluminum boats. They had 2 big aluminum boats they just finished welding together. From what i saw they do excellent work....And they were very friendly as well.

If i knew BF welded i would have went with TGL for sure. No biggie since i got a great deal with warranty of the work.

Got the boat back today and the work looks excellent. Only cost me $150 since they only charge $60 an hour. I'll take her out saturday to make sure it doesnt leak. The welders at this shop provide great customer service. I told the guy i would recommend him to others. HE said before i do so, he wants me to take the boat out saturday to see if it leaks for some reason. And if so, to bring it back in and he'll hook me up.

But from what i see underneat the boat, it shouldnt leak. Anyways, ill post the shops name saturday if everything works out perfectly.
