6/30/2015 7:33:00 AMThanks Alan and atroutfisherman. They were fun to watch jumping and dancing behind the boat. The meat was absolutely gorgeous, dark orange and firm.
afk- Leader length was 14". As for speed, I know this may sound like dumb luck, and maybe it is, but I was running as slow as an 18 hp outboard will push a 14' hewescraft aluminum. I don't have a speedometer on my little boat and I usually fish with my brother who has one on his boat. I did install an app on my phone and it read 2 mph most of the day. It doesn't have speed to the tenths of a mile per hour so no way of telling exactly how fast. That was a long way of telling you I have no idea how fast I was going. :)

6/30/2015 4:37:00 PMNice catch Dave! Combination of high temps and a holiday weekend will keep us home and off the water. Week after looks good unless our DIL goes into labor, which she just might. Yesterday's Dr visit revealed she's dilated 1cm, baby is head down, mucous plug released, and she's 70% effaced. First grandchild (granddaughter) will be here soon. :-D

6/30/2015 5:20:00 PMHey Dave, more power to ya when it comes to doing whatever it takes to fish. I do not have a speedometer on my boat either. I'm also lucky enough to fish with others that do. After I get my boys thru college I'll be in a much better position to look at a better boat and electronics. Keep up the reporting and tying of your Quality flies!

7/1/2015 7:50:00 AMCongratulations Phil, that's exciting news. I'm sure you're thrilled with the thought of your granddaughter's arrival. It did get a little hot. We were thankful for cloud cover in the morning, kept the sun off our backs for a good part of the morning. Hope you get out soon, those Kokes were delicious smoked.
afk- sometimes just getting out and getting after them is the big part of the equation. I always think, "well I'm not going to catch anything sitting around the house". Good luck getting your boys through college. Part of me wanted to see if I could get them in my little 14' open Hewes with little lake troller downriggers on 6lb balls. It was fun and rewarding!
SnoKing- It was a good day. And to tell you the truth, the planters weren't that much of a hassle. They kept us busy while we were waiting to find the schools again. Of course that meant no rig in the water too. We thought at 40 to 60 feet down we would avoid them. We even caught one in 348' of water 50' down on the downrigger! Those little buggers are everywhere.
