Decided to go with a buddy to Lake Washington this morning and see if we could put some fish in the box. We launched at 8 in the morning and headed to the south end of the Mercer Island. We decided to put a rod at twenty feet, and one at 40 ft. We hooked up at 20 feet about an hour into the day and boated a nice 14 inch cut on a pink hoochie behind an orange sling blade. We hooked our second fish at 40 ft on a orange spatter back uv hoochie behind a watermelon sling blade. My friend Travis landed that one and it measured just above 17 inches, but pretty skinny. Fishing was pretty slow. We marked fish on the screen at various different depths. I decided to drop the orange hoochie to 45 ft, shortly after doing so We had a couple marks on the electronics and boom the downrigger rod pops out of the release. The rod went right back down and I knew we had a good one on. This fish came to battle and tested my kokanee downrigger rod. I finally landed the fish and it was a 20 inch plus black mouth between 4 and 5 lbs. We released him back in lake. We trolled for two more hours with no bumps and decided to call it a day. There was only one other boat on the water, not sure how they did. All and all it was a great day fishing with my friend.
