We are locals and fishing Palmer Lake is one of our favorite outings. When we were up there this week we caught several bass along the shoreline using both topwater and plastic worms. Of course a bass will always hit on a nightcrawler too. We caught about 5 bass between 1 1/2 pounds to 3 1/2 pounds and a whole slug of small bass. The lake if full of baby bass this year so please be careful in gett...

I ve been fishing Palmer Lake for bass this last week and the action was much slower than I experienced at Banks Lake. Using a crawdad crankbait along the rocky shorelines I caught more rainbow trout than smallmouth bass. I averaged only two or three smallmouth a day the best (for 5 days of fishing) 16 1/2 inches but the rest all under 12 inches. The big one was taken on a nightcrawler rig and the...

Fishing was pretty good. I got several good bites that spat the hook. I caught one 16 largemouth and an 8 perch. We were fishing near the lilypads at the northwest end. We saw about a dozen otters on the trip which was neat. On the way to the lake we also see bighorn sheep a lot. Palmer offers great fishing and more I m going back soon to see if I can catch some of those freshwater lings that lurk...

Had a great 4 day weekend fishing at palmer lake catching a variety of fish. Hooked 5 smallies over 3lbs and one over 5 lbs and many many close to a pound and then many more not worth telling about. Also hooked about 50 perch and 20 squawfish over the weekend (one squawfish was 30 inches and weighed in close to 10 lbs). Also tried trolling for kokanee and ended up hooking a few peamouth chubs. Als...

Lone Fishing Report

Hit Lone Lake around 9:30 AM or so. Started out trolling my Italian Woolly Bugger (olive chenille black marabou tail black shlappen hackle and gold or silver tinsel between the palmered hackle) on a 10 ft leader behind floating fly line. After a half hour I decided to switch to a chironomid pupa pattern after moving into deeper water and giving mind to the swooping swallows. Still nothing. Eventua...

Drove out to Palmer Lake out in Vaughn & noticed the water was red. Decided to fish it anyway. Nothing-not a bite not a sighting of anything other than lots of salamanders. Ce La Vie!...

Before the Hex start inching towards the surface fish a size 12-14 Alder fly. Pick a warm sunny day around noon and as your getting your gear together in the parking lot notice the large caddis like Alders cavorting around. Before the trout key in on huge mayflies they readily come to this Northwest favorite. Take a right from the launch and cast anywhere from in the weeds to 25 feet out. The Alde...
