The Winchester Wasteway, is a narrow passage of excess irrigation water that cuts through the Columbia Wildlife Area . The entry point for this trip was on Dotson Rd. After about eight hours the paddlers reached their destination, Potholes Reservoir.

Others have reported great bass fishing here, however no fish were caught on this day. The we did enjoy hours of beautiful sunshine and wildlife; including birds, turtles and carp.

If you looking for more information here’s an article that covers the route and what you might expect in great detail, http://www.justgetout.net/wenatchee/23425

Yes, absolutely. High density of stupid bass. One of my favorite places to try out new techniques and gain confidence in new lures or rigs. The last time we went was about 9-10 years ago. Lots of LM and Bluegills, very few Perch or Crappie. Normally, you need to stop in some of the sloughs or backwaters, but since it changes annually, you never know which ones will be good and which ones will not be. Need to find ones with weeds and depth. Often will spot fish right at the entrance to the backwaters, near current. My son had his 16th birthday on his first "Wasteway Run". He's 41 now. Didn't hurt him a bit... :^o Steve
