Lol funny how ppl say salmon don't bite when I have had my rod almost yanked out of my hand when they aggressively take my presentation. Usually when fishing dick nites, plugs or jigs. Whether its aggression or territorial don't matter as long as it takes my hook. Not looking to feed these guys and they are not hungry lol

Watched two snagged from 7-10am, slow but the fisherman numbers sure have picked up especially this morning....Over 40 people there all in a 100' run is a joke... Also whats up with the russian snaggers? I mean whats the deal with a 6/0 hook with a pinch of yarn cast yank, cast yank, cast yank....

Call WDFW and report it. We had the same situation down on a south sound river and they were happy to show up...

The Bellingham PD will show up, although they aren't as helpful with poaching matters, their mere appearance will often cause people to start fishing right.

I cant remember last year since I only went once or twice but Jakefish is right. the year before that I remember seeing an officer there a lot which helps with the riff raff and deters people from illegal activities. Even when I had to go to my truck the officer was nice enough to watch my gear since letting gear sit anywhere near the creek is subject to theft from the homeless etc.
I saw a post from someone who wasn't happy with the fishery. If you don't like extreme combat fishing, don't have patience, and don't like tangling with people constantly this is not a fishery for you. I mean I don't like this fishery for those reason either but roping some nice chum is too much fun to resist sometimes. Sometime I go mostly for the entertainment that ensues in such combative fisheries.

Entertainment is exactly what it is, however the cast and rip is a bit out of hand right now, the fish are showing up but its no where near its normal run potential, a few trickling in here and there... Nothing to write here about yet except the snagger's funnies...

i have to rebuttal my last comment about WDFW, they are spotting the north west hard, especially there at whatcom creek.. I had the pleasure of talking to a female officer ( british accent and her red head had me weak) and she was very open about the recent events, checking everyone on the wall..... Folks if you think you can use 5/0 and 6/0 hooks and want to snag these chum shes gonna make sure your going to jail.....Regulations are regulations and the russians, crack heads, and other folks with no licenses are getting checked are in big trouble.. Saw two in cuffs friday late in the eveing being escorted..... Play safe here folks....

The Cum are in. Went out yesterday morning with a couple friends and nailed em. We had maybe 1 each foul hooked accidentally, but other than that the chum were biting. No need to yank your line despite how others are fishing haha. There was about 3 seals catching fish and stealing fish off of people lines too. I easily hooked into 4 dozen fish, many spit the hook etc. I was mostly trying to get my friends into the fish and netting other peoples fish on the other side of the creek from the wall. They didn't believe me when I said combat fishing, now they know haha.
Had a blast though and met some nice people.

nice combat zone. Urban fishing at it's finest. I'm sure there are several people in that line that have never fished salmon before. Hopefully they pay attention to the anglers setting good examples fishing the right way rather than the ones snagging.
