Fishing near Two Rivers Casino

Post by browders » Fri Apr 05, 2013 4:28 pm

I am new to this forum, so please forgive me if my questions are repeats, or just plain dumb. We will be spending four days at the rv park at Two Rivers Casino in July of this year. I'm sure my wife and her sister will be spending their time in the casino. I expect to do some fishing. So, what do I need to know to fish that area. I will have a boat equipped with downriggers and electronics. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks very much.

Two Rivers Casino is at the confluence of the Spokane River and Lake Roosevelt. It is owned by the Spokane Indians. There are quite a few flats along that side of the river (north side) and along the east side of Roosevelt. At the time of year you are talking about there will be a lot of boat traffic as well.

The best fishing at that time will be for smallmouth and they'll be everywhere.all the steep rock walls and rocky bays hold tons of post spawn smallmouth. 50 fish days are not uncommon.I usually troll for trout and or walleye in the morning and at dusk and fish for bass the rest of the
day

And I'll add that you will probably not be able to launch at Two Rivers that time of year. You will most likely have to launch at Fort Spokane, so will have to cross back over the Hwy 25 bridge to do so. Two River's launch is the shallowest launch and is normally only usable at or slightly below full pool of 1290'. Although summer levels will be close, don't be surprised if Two River's launch is dry. Fortunately, you'll have quick access to Fort Spokane launch. Word of advice, any beaching or shore fishing on the north side (reservation side) requires a Tribal Fishing Permit, which you should be able to get at Two Rivers. In addition to SMB, walleye are also plentiful and readily found on the flats near Two Rivers Casino and upstream from Two Rivers in the section known locally as Outhouse Flats or up in the Spokane Arm. Hope you have a great time. [cool]
