An old guy gave me this little outboard motor. He said he lost the prop about six years ago and it has been sitting ever since.
It's a 1974 Chrysler 3.6hp, direct drive. I put fresh gas in it and it started right up and ran good. Anyone know where I could find a propeller and nut for it?
I have no idea what I'm going to do with it but the price was right.
He also has an older 10 or 12 foot aluminum flat bottom jon boat with an older 30lb motor guide motor. He said I could have it for $200. It is in pretty good shape and doesn't leak. Is that a good price? Thanks

$200 is a pretty good deal, the way summers are even if you don't want it you can probably get more for it than you paid. With the motor, there's a company called spokane propeller and dock in spokane that rebuilt my prop and my dads. He has a lot of props laying around for sale that no one picked up, doubt he has a website plus it's in spokane. You can also try www.iboats.com, great site, great forums, I know they sell props and they have their own prop forum. I'm in the same boat, hard to find older motor parts, good luck.

This prop on E-bay may fit your motor, for $200.00 for a 10-12 ft John boat w/30lb Motor Guide trolling motor sounds like pretty good deal. Go for it :thumleft:

Take that Jon boat and Minn Kota for $200. That's a steal...Take it ASAP...If you don't find yourself using it enough, sell it next spring for double what you bought it for....

Well if you don't need it, sell it...o:) If I hadn't just bought a minkota (sp?) for $70, I would make an offer..course I might be interested anyway (just don't tell the wife)

I recently bought a 11.5 foot fiberglass v hull for 39 bucks, transom and floor is (was) rotten but I'm working on it, goal is to be fishing out of it this weekend. No leaks though, bloody rain water stays in it nicely

You could probably even call Cabelas to get the right prop. They have a large selection, and you might even find the right one if you look through their catalog.

As for a nut, they tend to be harder to find, unless you can just use one from a hardware store (normally a course thread).

Now, there should be a prop retainer/lock washer on that. This may be harder to find. You might need to go to a specialty shop for that. If the motor brand is still made (I don't remember seeing one of those for some years), then you could get what you need from a dealer.

I've been trying to find a 10-12ft aluminum boat for a deal for a few months now.
It's pretty tough to find anything under $350 that doesn't need a lot of work. For $200 with a motor, it's a good deal.

If I still had family in Aberdeen, I'd have them buy it out from under you and hold it for me!!! LOL

Small, light aluminum boats are VERY easy to sell. You should be able to make a quick buck on that deal.

Well I bought the little boat. It is a 10' MonArk flat bottom. The only thing I found wrong with the boat and motor is one of the screw clamps on the motor is frozen. That is an easy fix.


I brought it home and unloaded it then went to town. When I got home the boat was gone. So was the Smokercrafts battery and my 24# Minnkota. I thought about it for a few minutes then figured it out. I went to the closet lake to the house and found the boat and my boat borrowing buddy on the lake.:joker::pirat: I think he may have just bought a boat.
