I watched the documentary titled "3 feet Under" today, about the geoduck in Washington. I thought it was very well done and highly recommend it if you want to learn more about the geoduck or like documentaries in general. It runs 63-minutes and covers all topics geoduck related (biology, geoduck culture, hatcheries, recreational and commercial harvest, laws, export, geoduck as tablefare, old people telling dirty jokes). You can put a hold on it if you live near a Timberland Library and watch it for free (how I watched it).
If anybody else has seen it, what'd ya think?

I did not see that one, but it sounds like something I would watch if I came across it. I watch those kinds of shows to the amazement of my wife.
I did see, however, a funny episode of "Dirty Jobs" (Discovery Channel) where host Mike Rowe spent a day harvesting them. Don't know if you saw it, or watch the show for that matter. Mike is absolutely hilarious -- he has a wise crack for every situation and he's been in a lot of interesting ones!
Here are a few quotes I found from that episode:
"Male geoducks can ejaculate for up to 10 to 15 minutes, fancy. This geoduck's a stud!"
"Hey, is that a geoduck in your pocket or are you just happy to sashimi?"
"Geoduck, the other white meat."
One other fact to share, according to Mike, geoducks can live up to 146 years, making them the longest living animal on the planet.

I don't have TV, but I have seen Dirty Jobs. Pretty good show! I didn't know he did a geoduck show, that's awesome. He must like Washington (assuming he was in Washington) because I know he's done at least two shows up here with Department of Ecology employees (biodiesel and youth litter-pick crews--the litter pick-up one may not of ran yet). A UW researcher they interviewed on the 3 Feet Under Documentary has found a 163-year old geoduck. He is confident that a 200 year old geoduck exists!
