Is this a ridiculous idea?

Post by Major Backlash » Fri Sep 28, 2012 3:27 pm

NEW, brand new to salt water fishing here but was thinking about trying this IF it isn't completely idiotic....

When the tide is running in or out.... cast a Spin-Glo off the Fox Island Pier. Use a 3 way with a heavy weight to keep it down. Just let it sit there.... the tide currents should spin it? #-o

IF it isn't completely ridiculous, then what depth should I TRY to target (guess at?). And IF IT IS completely rediculous keep reading my posts - I'm bound to have much more ridiculous ideas. 8-[

if the current is strong enough i dont see how it would hurt to try, but if the current isnt strong enough itll just sit there like a rock, thats why its used in rivers because theres enough current in them, maybe start off with a small spin n glo, or try a tiny spoon, tiny blade, or any other small plunking type bait,

Sounds like a winner to me but as with any plunking you need to put it where the fish are going by. I'd watch and see when anyone hooks up and put your gear at that depth. Let us know!!!

Do like they do at Bush or Lagoon Points. The current at both are strong enough to spin the Spin n' Glo. On Whidbey I use a small spin n Glo with a hoochie on it. Id use Smelly Jelly Herring for salt on it. Cast it out with a 1.5 oz banana weight and retrieve it back all the way to the shore. Lots of fish hit in the wave zone close to shore. When a fish hit it its zzzzzzzzzzzz on the reel. I havent caught a salmon like that but Ive done well with Steelies using this method. Its not at all ridiculous. ( if there is lil to no current the speed your reeling up a lil. )
