Beaver Lake - fished out?

Post by oneshot » Wed Aug 29, 2012 10:13 pm

we fished for 4+ hours and managed one small Bass.. and barely marked fish in the lake. like all the trout are hiding or gone.. oh well, time to switch gears finally and start hitting Salmon..

I have a ton of fishing video from slow days.. I decided to crank one out here from our outing this past Sunday..
short and sweet.. easy on the ears.. :-"

Beaver Lake has been pretty much wiped out of fish. The state does big trout plants there. When they plant everybody fishes the lake keeping everything that hits. I think that overfishing has hurt the lake. Also lots of building on the lake and surrounding area. I cant imagine whats seeping into the lake not to mention all the creasote from new docks and old dock repairs. Im sure alot of these lakes will all be the same soon.

this is what i think too.. we trolled the whole lake, all of the shore line and the middle sections and barely spotted fish on the sonar. i know it slows down this time of yr, but i also know a ton of people fish the lake when its stocked..

I may give it az try in fall when they do that annual triploid stocking... maybe.. just maybe.. like more like maybe not.. but maybe.. :-k

Want to see the trips that will go into Beaver next, hit the Issaquah hatchery for Salmon days (you can even feed em a dixie cup full of pellets for $1 :-$ ).
I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

thinking on this.. what are the chances you could spot one fish at the hatchery, tag it somehow, feed it some pellets to help fattin it up.. then catch that very same fish in beaver later? stranger things have happened... that would be pretty dang cool. again.. maybe.. [razz]

Try dragging some kokanee gear deep in the north section of the lake. Seems everyone is after the stocked trips and resident bass, only a few ever target the kokes.

i have never heard of kokanee in there.. but trust me, if i had spotted any numbers of fish in one location i would have tried everything i had.. as stated earlier, barely any fish spotted on the ol sonar.. and i covered most of the lake, including the north end multiple times

i was tautned today fly fishing after work, by what appeared to be at least a 14+ rainbow in the sammamish, i had the cam going the whole time cuz i was sure the very next cast, maybe, just maybe was going to be the one.. bam! nothing.. this fish and about 20 others of much smaller size taunted me for a solid 2 hours, what with all their rising and splashing about.. aargh (shakes fist) i'll get you tomorrow morning maybe, just maybe if i can get up early before work :) last day for this river until january.... battery on cam died an hour in.. but i got plenty of casting and talking nonsense to myself.
