yes, no doubt small and round rather than "long and skinny"

New to the site and trying to figure it out. Out of curiosity I went through my weekly fish journal for 2017 & tallied up my fish count for the season so far. My season started in March and my current count is up to 65 Pike caught Locally this year so far. Most fish have been caught on Cda and Chains with a few early ones caught in a WA lake.

Denise and I got out on CDA yesterday for a couple hours and had about 10 hookups and caught a few others. Got pretty hot so we were off the water at 11am.

I had an epic nite tonite. My best nite of pike fishing ever about I got 11 pike in 4 hours and missed about that many as well. My last 3 pike were 33 1/4 " , 35", and 36". The 36 was 14 pounds and change. The 35 was 12 1/2lbs.. This was almost better then fishing Canada!!!! I got them on a bunch of different baits, from chatterbaits to glide baits. I also got a bunch on a new bait a friend makes called a Weed Witch. It sort of a cross between a swim jig and a chatterbait. All's I know is the pike seam to love them. It has a cool darting action. I will post a picture of one here soon.
Here is a little video if my fish. I broke my good camera and this one the video is poor and it has no sound, Yah I know, I'll never make it as a cameraman. LOL This makes 51 on the year.

Rick,
Your video doesn't seem to be working. Just says video is private. Your recent posts got me going so I headed up north on Saturday to see if I could find any pike in an area I have wanted to try for a long time. No luck for me. I fished all day and had one follow from a fish about 30". That wasn't enough to make me want to go back any time soon. :(
I headed out to Cda on Sunday. I managed to catch and release 4 pike on the day, bringing me to 146 for the year. I also managed to lose a big fish. I didn't get a great look at it but I did see it as it hit the lure. Undoubtedly would have been my biggest "Non Canadian" fish of the year. No real idea of how big but looked very big on the bite and I could barely budge her toward the boat in our brief encounter. Maybe she'll be there next time.

You have to really know the water here to find fish. As if your fishing the right area, but miss by just a few hundred feet you will not get bit. I'm still learning where to find the fish as it get later into the year. If you tell me what area you were at I might be able to tell you if there are any fish in that area.

For those of you that were not able to see the video, I think it should work now. Not the greatest video but the 36" was my biggest fish of the year so far at 14 1/2 pounds

Nice healthy looking fish!! I spent part of the day at the Clark Fork drift yard, and Denton slough. I got followed off a point with a rocky shoreline near Denton. Denton looked great but the entire slough looked to be about 6-9 feet deep and the weeds there made it real tough to fish. I also put in at Riley Creek and fished between the campground and the highway. Very warm water and similar weed issues there. Saw a few bass there but no pike.

That Riley creek area has no pike at all so it's a total waste of time to fish for anything other then bass there. and I have never caught any fish from the Driftyard area either. The area I fish is quite a ways away from there. I got out the other nite and got 3 more to put me at 54 on the year. It has slowed down a lot and all of the bigger fish have seamed to have left the area. The water temps were getting very high for pike to want to be there at it was hitting the high 70's. I dont know there they will go for the rest of the summer or where their winter hunts are. I'd like to find out, but can't really explore much in my little boat. Here are a few pixs of my smallest pike and a largie I got , My other 2 that were about the same size as the one Pat got here, but he didnt take any pictures of them strange lol.

Well for a chance to see some new productive water I would be happy to bring my boat and help you look for them. Don't let the water temps fool you. In 2015 I caught two pike that went 45 1/2" each on consecutive trips in 75 degree water. It was odd they were in that warm of water but they sure were. I also missed a slob last weekend in water that was about 72 degrees
