whidbey island bass

Post by clam man » Thu May 31, 2007 2:34 pm

Hey shipmates,

I have been fishing for bass on Whidbey for two years without a bite. Trout, no problem, bass big problem. I can spot about a half dozen or so 3lb+ bass in deer lake everytime out, but they refuse to bite. I have heard lone lake has some nice sized bass, but I was wondering about Goss lake, and some of the small ponds on the south end of the island. Any advice for picking up these deer lake bass, or good fishing spots would be appreciated.

Deer has bass, and I've been trying to get out there since we got a spot up on the island that is our weekend summer cabin, but I can't seem to get out there to bass fish...

Goss Lake looks like it could be a great bass lake. I'll give it a try next time out and let you know how I did...Lone Lake has very few bass in it anymore...Since all the pads and vegetation were killed off, the bass have had no where to stay....Plus it's selective gear there, so single, barbless, no bait...So your really really low on options of stuff to use...I'll try to hit up Deer and GOss for bass next time I'm up on the island....

I hit up Goss for bass the other day...no luck, just some trout, and local wisdom is "no bass." But that lake is made for em, nice cover, nice flats, stocked feeder trout....but might be bass free.

Lone lake is ok for bass on flies. I have a friend who does pretty well every time out (or he is a liar...wait he is a liar, he is a fisherman)

Deer lake is the cat's pajamas for south end lakes, but hard to get bites.

I'll try for bass at Goss next time out....Lone lake has some, but like I said, since they killed the weeds at the lake there is very little cover for the bass anymore..Goss must have some bass I'd think...I'll try it before I will give it up...
