I've heard it doesn't really matter as the fish just come to slam them out of reaction....

I do know that you want a black buzzbait at night because it is the most visible color when fish are looking up at a moonlit sky...

SPRO FROG is my all time favorite topwater lure. I have caught fish on it even in 20' of water. Just have to be patient and count to 2 before you set the hook. Trust me I have missed over a hundred strikes before I learned that!!!!

Some good topwater colors for the walkers like the Bass Pro Shops XPS professional series are, "the colors with white bellies work the best, mostly natural colors like tennesee shad, Arkansas shiner, Crystal green, etc, anything perch colored will produce quality fish in the northwest too. I also reccomend changing out the standard hooks and put on some red bleeding bait trebles to gt that injured baitfish look.

If your getting short strikes on top water like the zara spook. Tie a trailer w/ 15lb line & treble hook. I use the frog color. I really want to catch something on the SPRO Frog

The silver flitter Zara Spook has been my go - to lure for years. I'm not sure if the color makes a difference or not, but I stick with it because "if it ain't broke.....

Definitely it is the longest 2 seconds and it is one-one thousand, two - one tho.....set!!!!!!!! Biggest fish I have ever caught have been on this frog. Caught 8 fish all averaging 5lbs in NC one hot day last summer . Make sure you use braid or you will never pull them through the pads!!

What colors in the spro frog seem to produce the best? I usually throw green hair frogs on my fly rod or a white belly blue back zara spook. I love throwing all black zara's 3 days before a full moon at night, WOW what fun!

I prefer Rainforest Black and White. The trick is not to work them to fast. Lots of twitching and pauses on the edge of the pads. I use black and white mainly for me to see it better while working through the thick vegetation.

Aren't you supposed to "walk the dog" with Zara spooks? Anybody ever done this and think other ways are better or worse?

If you're not walking the dog with a spook, your really missing out. That's about the only way to fish them except for twitching them. You have to give them action, without it, all they would do is sit there like a stick in the water. I found it's easier with a shorter, stouter rod that has a baitcasting reel and a pistol grip, if your not using a pistol grip style rod, the butt hits your forearm making it awkward and uncomfortable. I would say the most important thing is keep the rod pointing down and when you give the spook a sharp twitch (using your wrist), make sure to give it slack line immediately after that, that's what lets it move side to side. After you get the twitch, slack, twitch, slack, rythym mastered, you still need to remember to reel your line in, while you're in the twitch motion. The fullsize spooks are actually easier to work than the smaller ones, so start with a big one. I hope this helped you.
