OK OK just kidding LOL. Although I know a decent blackberry BBQ sauce for chicken.

Was starting this thread to say the blackberries are ripe and elicious right now! Gonna tyr to pick up a load tomorrow for jam.

What are some other people's favorite sues for blackberries other than riverside snack? I had some of these beauties while relaxing on the bank of the river when the fishing slowed... (PS- oops, unsure of how to shrink file to show up directly on screen instead of having to click on it, probably take me too much time anyways seeing's how I'm 'puter illiterate).

Oohh, I love blackberries. When I had more time I used to go out and pick the wild blackberries. Don't get me wrong, I like the himalayan just fine, but they are so seedy that I usually make jelly or juice from them. Wild blackberries make excellent jam, pie, cobbler and if you're in the mood for a special treat serve them slightly frozen, with cream or half and half and some sugar or honey. When I was younger I used to sell them to the local restaurant in the town I grew up in for 13 dollars a pound. I haven't been out this year.

Wow nate- several interesting ideas there:)

Bent Rod- I'll happily volunteer as a tester for #2. Never had a blackberry brew but sound darn decent for flavor AND potential color. There's a good peach hefeweizen put out by a Washington brewer, I forget name though but like the beer. Like the fruity flavor.

Gonna do blackberry pancakes tomorrow. Simple but as nate mentioned kinda seedy since they're the Himalayan jungle/invasive buggers variety. My daughter will have fun plopping them into the batter.

Wife's sister from out of town made a nice jam I had with PB&J yesterday

Blackberry pie or cobbler sounds REAL good but that's more my wife's talent than mine LOL.:eye: :chef: #-o

Thanx for the ideas.

Ive made blackberry jelly.I made some blackberry vinager. Also blackberry syrup for pancakes. I love what we call freeberries. I pick alot of berries. Now its almost elderberry season. A lil something to try gents. Take your thick blackberry vines cut them up and dry them. Next time you run your smoker put in the cut dried vines. It makes for an excellent smoke. Especially on salmon.

Don't like the seeds? Pick the berries a little riper. Soak the berries in cold water for about 30 minutes. Rinse several times under gently running water. The vast majority of the seeds will float off (as well as the spiders).

To get rid of my seeds I cook the berries in a pot till soft then put through the food mill. As for the spiders? Its protein >>>
