New tackle box.

Santa brought me an early Christmas present:

Its a Plano 7271 and It was 35$ ish at Wally-world. I bought this one because of the removable trays/boxes even though Its a bit smaller than I hoped. All of my stuff fits in great, I just have less room for expansion in the future.

What do the rest of you guys use? Lets see some pictures.

I have a standard old style Plano 3 tray for the salt and it's full. It's not the tray model you have now but the one that opens and the three trays are pulled out to access the tackle. I like the new one you bought and I’m considering something like yours to accommodate the ever-growing tackle I acquire each year, including the stocking stuffers my wife so kindly buys me each Christmas to support my fishing habit. I also have an old style Plano 3 tray for fresh water. It has a bit more room in it (less tackle occupying it) but I like the slide out multiple tray style that’s out there now which you just bought. I’m curious to know if the hard plastic might be more susceptible to cracking vs the heavy plastic ones. I guess I will just have to see for myself. Thanks for the info.

Dave thanks for the reply and the pics of your setup, Yea the boxes you got are proven tough, I do not know how the box I have will weather We will see. The Slide out replaceable plano boxes in mine I love, when humpy season was going strong and I had just started fishing I used a 5 gal bucket and one of those plano 5$ trays to keep track of all my gear.
Now that I am well 'hooked' with the fishing bug, and buying more gear, what I think I am going to do is:

Keep one tray for just sinkers/bobbers or hardware, and use the other two for what ever I am currently fishing for. For example that other tray/box full of humpy stuff that I wont be using for a while, Ill just leave that one at home.

I almost purchased the larger box like this 7271 but it had built in trays vs these lil removable boxes which I thought were so trick.

Oh and By the way, love the propane heater setup you have going in your boat!

I come completely prepared with 6 different tackle boxes full of anything. I just don't know what's in each one of them till I open it. It's like Christmas morning every day on the water!:bounce:

That is a really cool box Datsun, it is tempting me to get one. I love all the boxes to seperate different things out.

Thats a sweet box. I have one very similar to that on my work bench. Its where I keep all my jig tying material. Then when I go away for a weekend I bring the box with me and all my material can come with just in case. Its nice to if you want to do a short hike, just grab one of the smaller tackle boxes and you dont have to wrestle the big box through the brush

I fish many different conditions so I keep every thing in little flat boxes. I then throw the boxes I want into my fishing back pack I keep all my regular use stuff in and then grab the poles and go.

Hey Datsun,

I didn't realize those trays can be removed. That's very cool! I like the idea of changing out trays for whatever species you are targeting. As you can see in my salt box, I have all my pink gear in it which takes up space and could be put in a tray or two and inserted in to the box during pink season vs having it with me all the time.

The propane heater is new this year, purchased about 3 weeks ago. In the last year I acquired the cold weather clothes (Cabela's Guide Wear jacket and bib, and the 2000 gram boots) so I thought I'd add the last element to make winter fishing a little more comfortable by buying the new propane bottle and heater. Now all I need to do is get out there. I also repaired the snaps on my canvas top/sides about 2 months ago. They had broken off over time at the windshield frame so I took it off this last summer for pink season. I really like having the top on so I took my boat to a buddy’s house and he had the stuff to make the repair. So hopefully the heater will heat up the enclosed area of the boat and keep us warm. Thanks again for the tackle box info.
