LOLOL!!! That totally reminds me of looking for some, uh, 'edible' mushrooms in a farm pasture years ago around Bellingham where my buddy and I experienced a quite similar fate.
I tell yuh it is REALLY scary having a big group of cows coming at you slow as you walk away slow which speeds you up (seeing them approaching), then having them speed up and getting to a point where you are in an all-out sprint toward the fence hoping to jump thur it or over it before they catch up (it was a ranch-style split wood fence).

"Its the coming back, the return which gives meaning to the going forth. We really don't know where we've been until we've come back to where we were. Only, where we were may not be as it was, because of whom we've become. Which, after all, is why we left." -Bernard Stevens Northern Exposure

I was teaching my dog to track in a big pasture, the cows were in there one day and they kept following the dog around. We got thru most of the course, but I decided to leave as the cows were getting real close to the dog.

We have a family cattle ranch in Nebraska. I took my Red Heeler out a few times (They are nick named "cattle dogs"). We went out to the heard of heifers and calves, he trotted right up to a calf tail wagging (I think he thought it was a dog). About 10' away he stopped, the momma started walking up to him, he started running away while looking back at the cow following him. Ran right into another one (literally), turned and ran from that one up to the 1st again. He went back & forth for quite awhile before he figured out how to get the hell out of em. From then on he stayed a safe distance and just growled at em#-o
I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

LOL[lol]
Thanks for the great memories. I loved watching Rawhide when it was on with Rowdy (a very young Clint Eastwood), Mr. Favor and especially "Wishbone"[woot] . I'll have to see if I can pull up some old reruns and watch them. That's when TV was clean, innocent and actually had a plot to the story.![Laugh [laugh]](./images/smilies/msp_laugh.gif)

Hahahahaha! Cows are dumb! They're harmless. Well, not completely harmless, but I've seen them do some stupid stuff. I used to live next door to cows and we'd have a lot of fun with 'em. We had a cat that was a bastard to the cows. Jumping on 'em and scaring them. She never got stomped on no matter how crazy she was. Cows are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

It reminds me of a time many years ago when I still lived with my folks on a dairy farm down in Oregon. One day I was walking up through the pasture after steelhead fishing the Nestucca River when I saw the cows all chasing a big black bear. The frightened bear climbed up a big Alder tree in the pasture as the cows gathered around under the tree and stared up at him. Dad shot the big male bear with his shot gun and I skinned it out and made a floor mat for dads old battered pickup truck out of it. I had an almost new drivers license and took my girl friend to the movie in that truck. She admired the floor mat and I eventually married her -- some 58 years ago.
A nice bass is too valuable a resource to enjoy catching only once.

Use to make the cows go crazy by making a loud buzzing sound. their eyes would get huge and all of their tails would go straight up looking like a periscope, then they would run off kicking (at their bee's). Last time I did it was when they were waiting to get milk'd at the barn and my uncle caught me as they were heading back out to pasture. work'd my a-- off that weekend.![BigGrin [biggrin]](./images/smilies/msp_biggrin.gif)
