I don't have any solutions. I think getting off foriegn oil would be a good start though. Anyway you slice it we are stuck with terrorists - have been since what, the 70s now?
We already have that, it's called a Pass Port. For people that choose not to travel overseas they don't have one. No one is forcing them to get a passport. In order to travel abroad, you have to have one. It would be the same way with traveling by air, you want to fly without going through extensive security, register with the federal government. How many people work at Microsoft, Boeing, Lockheed, NASA and thousands of other businesses and have I.D. badges. When they enter their work place, they show their badge and process on in.

1984 has come and gone. We are living in it now. The government already has access to all your personal information and can pull it all up in seconds. Walk into any government office or shopping mall and you are being watched. Have you been in a Home Depot recently? They have people on the camera's 24/7 in the store. They can follow every step you make through the store and have security waiting for you the moment you step outside.

Why not take this information the government already has on you and put it to good use. Get screened, walk up to an I.D. scanner, place your hand on a reader, scan your card and proceed on your way. [thumbup]

Getting off foreign oil is a good start. To follow that up, stop trying to spread democracy throughout the Arab World. Their royal families don't want it and the tribes certainly don't either. They have been fighting between each other for thousands of years. Why should they stop now?
