River Fishing Carpools

Post by natetreat » Mon Jun 20, 2011 3:55 am

Okay. Here's the deal. My wife gets cranky if I drive a couple hundred miles to catch a couple of fish :-$ #-o . But she loves to eat the fish:bounce: . Gas prices are going up and I'm getting out less and less because we just can't afford to.

I know there's an "open seat" list in freshwater, but there's not very many river fishermen in it. I thought it might be a good idea to have a post for guys to figure out who else could get together and share gas money to hit favorite rivers.

I dunno, I've got the itch and my pops is telling me about the killer summer run down south, and it's killing me.

natetreat: I live in Lynnwood and I have a 2003 Buick Regal and a Toyota Corolla that are both pretty good gas sippers and can seat 3 comfortably with rods and 4 a bit scrunched. The Buick is pretty big and comfortable. My work schedule is dependent on getting clients and dog boarding seasons right now, so it's flexible.

I fish for steelhead and salmon passionately, I'll drive a ways to get to some decent trout too. I have extra gear if you need a good rod and like good company and good beer.

Hahaha, if you wanna go sometime I can show you what's up. I'm pretty good and have filled up catch cards, all from the bank. I don't know squat about boats and bass fishing, I still need lesson there.

I think this is a brilliant idea. My problem though is time. Seems like I only am able to get away for a few hours at time. It's been a few years since I've been able to go fishing for a whole day. :-({|= Maybe when the kids are older.

I only go to the op when I got two or three buddies riding and putting in on gas. Gets spending especially if towing a trailer full of pontoons or the driftboat.

if everyday was a good day there would be alot more fisherman.

I concur - brilliant idea. I'd love to take you up on this (...as well as hit Quadfather up again:-" ) but my availability sucks until August unfortunately.

Okay, so let's everybody put their screen name and locations, like I'm in the south snohomish county area, availability and if they are a driver or not. If they are a driver, put the type of rig that they drive. I know a lot of folks in the cities don't have vehicles, but they can have gas money.

Put the type of fishing that you're into, rivers that you know well and what you'd like to learn, and we can get some car pools together. I know I would like to go fish the Icicle river on the other side, and I'd love to make the trip to Drano, the Wynoochee and I'm always down to hit up the Cow.

As I was saying, I'm not the most experienced on rivers. I've fished with guides for Steelheads and Kings, from a driftboat, but only done the bank 2-3 times.
I live in N. Seattle. Drive and Outback. I would be more interested in getting away from the major popular holes like, Rieter, but like I said, I'm the new rookie on the river stuff. Time is my thing that I am short of. I fish an awful lot, and it pinches my family if I take a whole day out to a river. What works well is to get an EARLY start, and get off the river by noon.
My experience is more trout trolling, kokanee trolling, basic bass fishing. I agree Drano would be a blast to hit.
Coretron22... likewwise, we can get together again. Let me know sometime what your best times are.

Well, I cant drive obviously...BUT i know how to drive a boat whether its an trolling or gas motor !
My name is Jacob Tieszen, I moved again and now live in the small town of Belfair, around Bremerton.
I absolutely LOVE fishing for salmon, have never caught a steelhead but would like to before the season is over.
I would need my guardians approval to go fishing with some one, but there pretty laid back and chill as long as ive talked to the person via chat, text, PM, or over the phone, ect. (pretty much as long as they think ill be safe with the person im going with)
I make $75 every 2 weeks, so I can help with gas money.:dj:
This was a great idea Nate, lets hope more WAlakers will join in on this.
~Men and fish are alike. They both get into trouble when they open their mouths.

~My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.

I live in lake stevens, cant drive, almost always able to pitch some gas money, on summer break right now so i can go whenever for the next couple months, Wouldnt say im a pro river fisherman but i do know a good amount about rivers and all other kinds of fishing. Im 18 so hiking or long days isnt much of a problem.

I'm Corey.
I live in Seattle near Lake Washington between Stan Sayre's Park and Seward Park.
I can drive, but sometimes the wife needs the car...
I can provide gas money if not using my car. I'm pretty inexperienced as far as fishing, but I have decent gear and do my homework.
I am into any type of fresh water fishing; Rivers, creeks, lakes, ponds...casting, trolling, jigging.

I have 2 young kids & race electric model boats - which are the activities that take most of my free time in the summer. Weekends are preferred, I do occasionally get a Friday free.
As stated above, I am probably not available until after the Seafair Hydro races(first weekend in Aug.).
