This is the style I use! I lost my fly box last year so I won't be bringing any.

Poppers are a blast! It's a little early for that but in the summer it is exciting when they break water for a popping popper.
I did it just the oppisite I learned to catch Bass and Pan fish with a fly before I started to learn to fly fish for trout.

I forgot using Poppers I pop it like twice then pause then pop it two or three times and pause over and over agian. If I am getting hits right of the bat I will just pop it back as quickly as I can.

I love fly fishing for Bass. I have found that leach patterns, woolly buggers, minnow patterns like the Zonker, Clouser Minnow, etc., poppers, hair mouse or frogs, etc., etc., etc., all work.
Trout and Steelhead are not the only fly fishing target out there.

The Snohomish library has a book called "Fly-Fishing for Smallmouth" by Bob Clouser. I thumbed through it, and it looks like this guy really knows his stuff. Your local library may have the same book or something similar. (Libraries are great resources -- and they're free! :bounce: )
Here's an amazon link:

Thanks for the help guys. I will order some flies mentioned. I have actually bought some of the popper flies already. Nothing beats topwater action on a regular spinning rod or baitcaster. Can't wait to try it out with a fly rod.
If you guys see a red bass boat with a guy fly fishin' stear clear he's still learning!
