Go Tiger Muskies! Go Washington State!!

The final tally for 2012 has been taken and Washington State has once again done itself proud in the Muskies, Inc. "Hybrid" category. This is a National List of all Muskies, Inc. members across the nation.

Washington State Muskies, Inc. members placed in 10 of the 25 available positions for "Top Hybrid" !

Congratulations to: D.Wood, President of M.I. Chapter 60, "The Mountain Muskies" in Spokane... Doug, was the "Top-Dog" Muskies, Inc. member in 2012, from Washington State, with his 48.50-inch Curlew beauty... which BTW placed 3rd overall within the Nation in the Hybrid category!

The #1 Top-Hybrid was a 50-incher out of Minnesota's, Washington County... kind of ironic I think;)

P. Bergman, from Chapter 57, NW TIGER PAC, took 4th with his magnificent 48.00-inch Merwin "cruiser" ... Other Anglers who placed were: E. Walzer (#6, 7, 17), D. Wood (#9), M. Floyd (#19, 21), E. Hoyle (#20, 25) Great job guys!

Julie C., a Chapter #57 Member who lives in Ontario, Canada, won the National Award for Women's Top Releases of Purebred Muskie for 2012 with a Lunker from the St. Lawrence River in late November. Size? A whopping 55.25 incher! WTG, Julie!

Also I would like to mention; D. Manley, from Chapter 59 of New Mexico, and his 45-inch Hybrid who took the 11th spot in 2012... New Mexico is coming on strong with their current Tiger-Program... Maybe another "serious challenger" in the not so distant future? It would be great to also see Colorado M.I. Chapter 44 make a strong come back too... Who knows what the future will bring... The tiger fishing is alive and doing well:)

I know New Mexico waters are producing upwards fo 10 fish days right now!!! small fish (up to 32 inches). I know when I was in Canada last year some of the 59 members had a 76 fish day.....Yes Tiger Muskies....76 of them in 1 day....majority of them small but I heard there were a few over 40".....

Yes, I think the only thing that could slow down M.I. Chapter 59, of New Mexico, is a lack of Goldfish! Chapter President, Matt Pelletier, and his crew are doing a wonderful job in New Mexico... cool video's also!!!

It would be good to see Chapter 44 of Colorado come-back strong also someday... A former Colorado Chapter President; Mr. Ken Karbon did a tremendous job in Colorado at one time (around 2004). I guess we'll have to keep a watchful eye on Longmount's, Burch Lake project... The project sounds fantastic. Kudo's to Colorado for doing this!

It would truly be a delight to see a few of these "West of the Mississippi" State Hatchery's etc... Possibly get together and share information etc... to produce some of these tigers of a high-quality for many years to come in all our waters... I'm sure there are many lakes out there etc... with "rough-fish" problems of some type where tigers could be used as a helpful remedy. "Tigers" are a very *controllable, relatively cheap, way to remedy such rough-fish issues. Tigers can also create a true "trophy-fishery" at the same time thus bringing in Tourist and Angling dollars for the state and local communities etc ... "Win/Win" for everyone involved except maybe the: Goldfish, Northern-Pikie Minnow, Suckers etc... that our Tigers seem to enjoy on their menu! Who knows... maybe someday.... Keep the dream alive...

Yeah...I dont' think toyota is going to due a commercial on our little story....unfortunately. they also didn't give us a new sequoia, but they did give us a $100 gift certificate, a nice blanket and a Tedy Bear so that is nice. As for Chapter 44 here in colorado, I guess we will see. One guy posted a comment on the local fishing forum down here about getting it started back up again, but I have not heard of anything since.

Yes, a Sequoia would definitely be nice for the family:) You have a great story... Toyota should use it!!

Hopefully, with Colorado's, Parks and Wildlife interest growing stronger in Tigers, once again, Muskies, Inc. will make a come back... They had an excellent chapter at one time. Their work with "Youth-Projects" was second to none. You already have some very "Key" M.I. members in Colorado... A former Chapter President, or two... and even a former National President... that seems to be a pretty good start;) At least the basic-foundation for M.I. already should exist... along with some knowledge of how things work... I hope the Burch Lake program does very well my friend... Our "Tigers" are very dependent on a good "Fish and wildlife" program etc... and also on the volunteer "support" program's such as Muskies, Inc.... Without this help from us our sterile fish simply fade away~~~~

Very true...haven't heard much about the former National President though, and the new guy trying to get it started again is apparently a new guy...transplant from Minnesota I believe.

Yes, I think I heard that somewhere too... It certainly would be a shame to let all that "experienced" M.I. talent in Colorado go to waste... Especially now when the Colorado-Fish and Wildlife Department wants to get more involved with Tigers...

Who knows... I personally would love to see you holding a Colorado, home-grown, "50-plus" Tiger someday... or maybe your own son holding his own Tiger someday too... The possibilities are endless when people work together for a common goal... Big-fish and a terrific fishery in which to catch them...I ask you does it get any better;)
