Panfisher, Holy Crappie Batman :spiderman I have a secret lake that has black crappie. Would you say that the area in the first picture... that has all the wood in the water, isn't that kind of what I hear is GREAT Crappie habitatt? I read a lot about fishing crappie in heavily wooded lakes. I suppose they like that kind of cover for some reason, rather than lilly pad fields.

This time of year the crappie like to hold near some sort of structure. As the summer comes on the crappie will hold right in the "STUFF" They like shaddy area's like weedy area's tree's in the water, rocky area's, and some good crappie stuff is in fact lillypads, if they are near some deeper water thats good. If there is a tree in the stuff that even better. This is were a good long rod works best, dunking offerings in between the pads or right along the edges. Think about what crappie eat here in this state. bugs are a major part of their diet and bugs love woody/weedy/lillypad stuff.

I might try heading out to the I-82 ponds and also try looking for other ponds that aren't named in that area to try fishing in the coming weekends. Might try going to Yakima and fish that lake in the pictures too. Never did make it out there again since my first time fishing it a couple years ago.

NOPE WENAS IS A DEAD LAKE!!! They don't plant Wenas anymore as there is no more shore access due to the vandalism and trash. Plus they just about empty it a few times so it would be a waste of time to fish it.

Wow...It used to be a great place to go fish a few years back. The road from the campground to the dam had places to pull off and there were tons of little honey hole shore spots. Its too bad. I thought the road was just closed off due to the range fire they had last year.
