Lake suggestions

OK, lets see if I can get this can of worms open..... I feel bad having to cancel all our trips to Eastern WA this year due to fuel prices and a lull in activity in my shop (I'm not even Mayfield musky fishing this year:pale: ) so I'm looking for a lake somewhere between Bellingham and Seattle where I can take my kids on a day fishing trip. I would like to target largemouth but also introduce my kids to crappie fishing. It would also have to be ok to swim in just in case we don't catch anything. I was thinking Sammamish but wasn't sure if there was crappie in there and have never fished it. We'll probably go in August sometime. Any suggestions?

hmmm, crappie too huh? I think lake Roesiger has crappie as well as bass and trout and has swimming available at a park in the lower third of the lake.

Cassidy Lake and Roesiger would be your best bets for both Crappie and Largemouth. The Crappie are a little tough to come by until about an hour or so before dark and then its about as easy as it gets. Nothing big. I have never caught a bass out of here over 1 lb but I don't fish for them either. Lake McMurray would be another one. Up by Whidbey Island is Lake Campbell and Cranberry Lake. Both are okay for bass but crappie fishing is a bit tougher.

Honestly, your best bet is probably Lake Washington or Lake Union. Although Im not real familiar with Lake Washington or Lake Union, I know they consistently catch bigger fish out of this lake.

You can't go wrong fishing for perch at Lake Washington or Sammimish. Crappie might be a little tough in the summer. Bass will need some time learning the lakes, perch you can catch any time.

No Mayfield this year? Ouch.....
I've never fished there but I heard Cassidy does well.
Good luck

Stevens has lots of bass and slab perch but I don't think there are any crappie. Ski boat traffic is a real problem so you need to get off the lake by 10 unless you like to "rock & roll"... #-o
