Hey guys,

I have two electric Scotty downriggers I use, the problem is that one of them has the 24in arm on it. I was wondering if anyone had anyone switched arms out before? or is it even possible?

Thanks

All parts a replaceable. Order one up. If you're worried make the call to Scotty up in BC. They love to talk to customers.

I do think there are some differences you need to worry about, though... When I wanted to replace my 24 inch booms with longer ones, I was told by a dealer that it took more than just the boom, since it needed additional support for the longer arm... Don't know if he was just trying to sell me new downriggers or not... I still have the shorter booms...

TomD may be on to something with the support comments, but there is also a difference in boom diameter as they get longer too. For example, the 24" boom on the 1099 is 1" diameter and the 30" boom I have on my 1101s is 1 1/4" diameter. Scotty lists the diameter for all adjustable booms as 1 1/4" diameter, so it may not be as simple as switching booms. [sad]

Check w/ the guys at Sportco but I 'm pretty sure you can upgrade yours. look at the underside of your rigger and remove the screw. the boom and the square socket pull out and the new one slides in. I upgraded to the extension booms and it was an easy switch, but I already had the 1 1/4 in booms.
