I would have to say ZZ TOP Chrome, Smoke, & BBQ 4 disc set that has it all, 80 songs total.

My opinion: Roy Buchanan probably ranked in the top 5 of all time, only recorded a few albums because he didn't want to commercialize his music, prefered playing live at smaller venues. If you have the chance to listen to just how he mastered his art I'm sure you will enjoy it. When I was younger I had two roomates that were DJ's and was exposed to a lot of music. You might try checking out one of his CD's at the local library.

RE:Your favorite Album/CD of all time?
OK, my apologies for hijacking this thread but I HAVE to tell this story.Uncle Wes wrote:My opinion: Roy Buchanan probably ranked in the top 5 of all time, only recorded a few albums because he didn't want to commercialize his music, prefered playing live at smaller venues. Years ago when I was single my best friend visited me from Wisconsin. I'd heard of Roy Buchanan and we got tickets. The concert was at the Ballard (Firehouse?). Anyway, there was Roy and his band, playing the BEST telecaster music on God's green earth. A couple songs into the concert, I realized that everyone was sitting at tables around the dance floor and NO ONE was on the dance floor. So my friend and I got up, walked on to the floor and sat down right at the feet of Roy Buchanan. The "stage" was a 4" lip and we were no more than 6 feet away at his feet. As a guitar player, I am feeling like I died and went to heaven. I'm grinning at Roy, he's grinning at me, and for the nice 2 hours it was like my own personal concert. Roy B. was a true master and is sorely missed.
Now, if you are interested there is another Guitar Master coming to this area May 13th at the Snoqualmie Casino (they have a great theater for music BTW). Robin Trower - stratocaster blues master and all around cool guy is pushing 70 but still plays the most soulful blues on the planet. Forget Clapton, he's a hack next to Trower. If you love guitar blues take this maybe last chance to see a LEGEND. I saw him last fall at the Showbox. And yes, I went two hours early and my friend and I stood AGAIN, not more than 6 feet from him, first against the stage. My ears were ringing for three days! But what an amazing concert. After the concert he sat in his limo and signed autographs. I got a couple guitar pick guards autographed, thanked him for his great music and wonderful memories. He was very gracious and kind.
OK, sorry again for the hijack.
Adendum: Couldn't resist - here's a new blog with an embedded video of Robin Trower - just to help you decide if you want to play hookey from work the next day. Enjoy!

I recognize the name Robin Trower from way back. Was he always solo or in a band? What band? I seem to remember him being in a band?

Robin Trower, that brings back memories can't believe that it has been over 30 years since I first heard his music, when my hair was thick and long and my eyes were always the prettiest shade of red. lol Where does the time go seems like only yesterday.

It's Twice Removed From Yesterday, LOL.Uncle Wes wrote:Robin Trower, that brings back memories can't believe that it has been over 30 years since I first heard his music, when my hair was thick and long and my eyes were always the prettiest shade of red. lol Where does the time go seems like only yesterday.
hookemdanno - the band (other than his solo career) is Procol Harum of Whiter Shade of Pale fame. If you're into guitar players you owe it to yourself to check Trower out. He has an old live album that is the definition of rock/blues energy. And more recently he teamed up with Jack Bruce of Cream on the CD "Seven Moons", an amazing collaboration and like listening to Cream all over again, only with TONS more soul/blues.
