SAMMAMISH -- Sheriff's deputies are investigating the drowning of a woman at Beaver Lake on Wednesday night.
Sgt. John Urquhart said the woman had been under for some 50 minutes when rescuers pulled her out around 9:12 p.m. The 33-year-old woman could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, the woman had been walking along the water's edge with a friend when she stepped in a hole and went under. The woman did not know how to swim, they said.
Detectives said the woman had had an argument with her husband earlier in the night. They said her husband and the friend went to the lake and split up to find her. The friend happened to find the woman first and was walking with her when she went under.
The woman's death is believed to have been accidental, Urquhart said. Her identity has not been released
