all that plastic and foam is not good for making into a smoker

if you want to DIY something, use an old metal file cabinet

If you're making a hot smoker, even the paint in a filing cabinet might be an issue. If you're looking for something quick, you can make a very effective smoker out of a cardboard box. See the link below or search google for other directions. Happy smok'n!

I built one years ago out of an old stand up freezer. It had metal insides and worked like a champ. I used a bunch of oven racks that I got at the scrap yard for racks and an old hot plate from good will that cost a buck. Try looking behind the home depot or lowes thats were I found mine. Also the scrap yards get them all the time. You can buy sheet metal really cheap to re-skin the inside on the plastic ones. Look to a stove shop to buy the heat proof "rope" to seal the door. I used floor style heat pump vents (Heat registers?) to control smoke/air in/out Good luck O:)
