Buzz-Bomb in hot pink or silver. For Silvers and Pinks they do the trick.

Yes, but it's not usually a very productive fishery.....
Keeping to the subject at hand:
Buzz bombs
Zingers
Pt. Wilson Darts
Crippled Herring if ya can find em
Deadly Dick
All whites, blues, greens, silvers, anything that mimics a baitfish usually works pretty well, bright colors like Pink also work too.....

Buzz Bombs Hands Down. The way that they flutter and the sound they make in the water just drive salmon crazy. For silvers and kings try white, but for humpies you gotta go with pink!

As stated earlier you can catch them in the winter but you get to work even harder for them than you did off the pier during the summer. I've caught 2 in the past 2 weeks that were keepers and 4 that were just shy of.
Not the biggest fan of Buzz Bombs but like the Zingers - just wish I could find somebody that carried the glow in the dark version or the older green pearl version without going online to do such. The newer holographic type do work but I have better luck on the older design.
I found the Black and Silver Megabait recently at a store in Lynnwood granted I grabbed all the ones they had at the time.
Has anybody tried the Shamano Butterfly and go broke jig (I say that cause they are expensive but it looks like they should work)
On the Pt. Wilson Darts do you prefer the Anchovy or the Candlefish versions?

Sometimes I feel like the only thing ever caught on jiggs are the fisherman that buy them :D

Buzz bombs. There are several sizes and styles. For a good all-around, I like the 3-inch LE (light weight), rather than the 3-inch XH (extra heavy). Pink pearl seems to get most of my action, although hot pink is good for humpies and coho. The blue pearl has had reasonable success for me too.
For Buzz Bombs or zingers or other jigs that do not have the color you want, it's a rather simple matter to just paint them yourself. Craft stores have lots of glow in the dark paint. Just paint that over an existing color, and coat it with some sort of clear coat protectant sealer.
One thing about jigs is that they're expensive, usually 4-6 bucks a piece. That price adds up when you snag 3-4 on a days worth of fishing. A couple of years ago, I figured out how to make my own buzz bombs, zingers, darts, etc. using plaster molds and a lead melting pot and craft store paint. I think I have about 50 home made buzz bombs in my lure box now.

I prefer Live bait for (Lingers) always over man/made gear.
Only time I would not is pressing deep depths and tides.
As the picture shows they love it live:-#

1 jig for off the Edmonds Pier? It would have to be the 2-1/2 oz Pt Wilson Candlefish Dart in white. Add a couple very slim strips of reflective tape and put a slight bend in the dart. The dart is pretty much standard fare on the pier so the mods done to the dart increase the odd in your favor. During the king run in June-Aug the pier gets really crowded and the crowd doesn't appreciate weird crap being fished that ends up tangling everyone elses lines. Even though you're a long way above the water and casting out its still a vertical jigging style. If you're pounding the gravel beaches its the 2-1/4 & 3L buzz bombs. Lots of flutter and they aren't always hooking bottom like the heavier ones. Pink or white BB's are the big producers of fish, but ya gotta pack other colors just in case.
For the past 20+ years king season I've gave the pier an hours time at 0-dark thirty AM before I'd go to work. Always carried a big cooler in the truck as success was a fish every 3rd trip.
Life's short - fish hard!

If I had a boat and a place to store it and the money fo the gas and knowing where the heck the fish are without spending an entire millenium plus or paying a guide jilliions it would be different story but all I have access to is a stationary fishing pier. I have to work harder to catch the silly things but I have 4 black mouth landed off that silly thing and one lost in the past 4 weeks.
Here's to hoping Fishing year 2009 doesn't stink to dead fish bait like 2008 did.
I guess I'm going to have to go and get some Pt. Wilson Darts... I have only one and its been beaten up pretty badly, and unlike my Mega bait that seems to work better the more beat up it gets the Dart hasn't been able to bribe a fish for awhile. Sigh.
