beaver pond fishing

Hey there,

I just got to fish a beaver pond out in the snoqualamie valley i have been eyeing for years on the stossel creek. It produced dozens of small trout (less than 12 inches) over several hours on small dry flies and a tiny inline spinner bait.

My question is, are there probably larger fish in this water, and if so, how would I go about fishing them? The pond is at least 5 years old (probably much older) and at least 20 feet deep in spots. Pretty decent size too.

My friend and I saw plenty of small fry in the shallows, so there is reproduction taking place, but we thought the pond might have so many fish in there they don't get very big. Any experts?

In a small water community like that the older and more sizable fish are going to be looking for a bigger meal. I would switch to a bigger pattern and go deeper. Now the higher the numbers of fish in this pond will mean the lower chances that there are going to be fish that grow to big.

Clam, I've fished most of the waters in that area and I've never seen any big fish, It think too many predators. Two and four legged. On top of the ponds there are a number of small lakes lakes there that have made for some fine but small fishing. I'd be thinking 4wt max. I'm a little too crippled to thrash the bush anymore but my advice for fishing that area would be to make sure you have some pest repellant, say.........., at least 38cal. Wink, wink......
