Whats Your "Magic" Lure?
Title says it all.
Whats you "Magic" lure, or your go-to bait?
Mine would have to be either;
1. Real Simple-White Jig-1/8 Oz
OR
2. Pearl White Sink-n-Fool !

RE:Whats Your "Magic" Lure?
For all around fishability that will catch any species in any water in almost any condition, a jig is my number one best choice. I prefer white too, particularly a white curly tail grub. You can vertical fish it, swim it at any water depth, burn it across the surface or just dead stick it. Very versatile. I usually go small with 1/32 oz up to 1/4 oz. I feel that if I want to catch fish, any species and size, a smaller one is better. One of the biggest bass I ever caught came on a 1/16 oz jig with a tube skirt. Funny thing is, I dont fish with this much anymore. I always have some on hand just in case and go to that when nothing else is working but rarely use it as a primary lure.
Second choice is a small Rapala original floater stickbait in silver/black back. Again, any predator fish that swims will eat this lure. Extremely versatile and can be worked effectively at all depths with the right weighting/rigging.
Third choice would be a Texas Rigged plastic worm. Again, I like curly tails as I think that they create more vibration and visual flash to attract fish. I like the old Mister Twister Phenom worms and Zoom U-Tail worms usually in green pumpkin or black. Hard to beat for all around attraction to bass and other larger predators.
Just my opinion.

The cast that catches the fish is never too short. Patrick McManus

RE:Whats Your "Magic" Lure?
Sorry, had to do it....
Actually the bait that I have a hard time puttin' down this year, because all of my biggest fish have come on it, is a 1/4 oz shakey head jig with a Berkley crazy legs chigger craw in breen color. The fish go friggin nuts for it.

RE:Whats Your "Magic" Lure?
The best go to, is the old cast net:-$ ! Works in every way you can fish.
lol!! For me the 3/4oz jig(green pumpkin with two split tail tralors and the 12in Black & Junebug culprit worms and last but not least the spook. I cast more than I want, but well worth it. These baits are always tied on every fishing trip. And they catch big fish. There are many baits that are the best but the 4in sinko is the best=; . Every one should only use these baits and throw every thing else out.

My Dad would say," Boy, some people just can't fish"

RE:Whats Your "Magic" Lure?
No magic lure for me. Why? Because every time I'd find a lure that produces a lot and call it my go to/magic lure, it stops working for me, resulting in a loss of that title. Superstition or not, it's as bad as having a banana in the boat.

RE:Whats Your "Magic" Lure?
I too would love to claim magic lure but every time I declare a lure my magic lure the company stops making the lure or goes out of business or decides they don't like that color or....
Of course if I only buy 1 lure the company folds up. I buy a dozen of each color the jig won't work worth beans and no matter how hard I try to lose the jig I can't. Even the rocks reject them. On the other hand... buy one and even the rocks scream... I gotta grab that...

RE:Whats Your "Magic" Lure?
for LMB i like rapala's but on the lake by my dads place (stitch lake/pond) its about a quarter mile from the south end of lake stevens I only have luck with floating rapala's because all of the millfoil or whatever kind of vegetation it is and almost always can catch a fish with the blue/white combination. I also love me a black jitterbug at night time. It might be just that I fish more often with the blue/white combination but does anyone have a clue why blue and white would work more than other colors? I haven't caught anything or seen any fish all that similar to the blue (its a royal blue) and white in the pond I fish in.

RE:Whats Your "Magic" Lure?
Hey Fish bait thanks for the vote for my lures as your go-to magic lure. That's a great compliment !!Fish_Bait111397 wrote:Title says it all.

My Magic go to lures are of course my Fish-N-Fool Lures Sink-N-Fool bait but i like the Watermelon, Chartreuse, and Hot Pink colors best. All of them catch fish though.
I also have some other favorites that I don't make as well, both are cranks. One is the mid diving Rebel Craw bait in the brown over orange color. My other fav. is the LureJensen Hotlips bait in Firetiger or Perch pattern. They are a deeper diver then the Rebel craw's and I fish the Hotlips bait then I need a little more depth. Then I fish the Rebel craw the rest of the time when the crankbait bite is on. Both are great crankbaits and they work good for trout to. As every time I go out Smallie fishing on the P.O. river I pick up at least one or two big trout on them. Got a 5 pound Brown last time I was out and a nice Rainbow the time before that.

50/50 Vibrex. When ever I cast it I catch something. Maybe small but always get a hit on a Vibrex.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.
RE:Whats Your "Magic" Lure?
If I need to get bit im tying on a texas rigged grub single tail, with a pegged bullet weight.
Catches fish of all size.

Mine is a jointed Rapala JSR 7 in perch or any craw color. I can catch bass in almost any kind of water. Except for this year. With the big temp changes in water this year they don`t seem to be producing as many fish but quality when I do catch them.

What does 'JSR' mean? 'Joint Strike Reserve' team? I don't have a magic lure. I have various lures that I have confidence in. If I had only one to choose from tho, I'd agree with TNJ...a t-rigged single tailed grub

RE:Whats Your "Magic" Lure?
WOW,you did say Magic, not favorite? Sorry, no such animal, or lure.
My favorite lure is my head, or if you will my talent, years of experience, tons of trips made testing theories, lures, conditions, etc.
There is no ONE best or "magic" lure, and if I were to tell you there was one, I would be telling a lie.
You have got to listen to what the fish are telling you, and at one time or another, almost any lure works like "magic".
Yes, even the Banjo minnow.

Too much water, so many fish, too little time.
RE:Whats Your "Magic" Lure?
Yup. My favorite the past 3 or 4 years has been the jointed Rapala J07 P, perch or Kokane. J-7 size = 2 3/4" length. Caught LOTS of fish on them, even big fish.Fish-N-Fool wrote:Amx wrote:What does 'JSR' mean? 'Joint Strike Reserve' team?
