Anybody know of anywhere (Greater Seattle area) that sells ‘Starboard’? Im talking about the product that a lot of kitchen cutting boards are made out of. It looks like a white-ish sorta plastic like surface. It is called Starboard, and some places like iboats.com. Etc. sell it.

It is ideal for cutting down and using when McGivering home boat projects.

Starboard is also known as high-density polyethylene plastic or HDPE Marine Board.

Locally, you can order it at onlinemetals.com and pick it up at their shop in Seattle.

It looks like they sell it in 1/2", 3/4" and 1".

It helps just having the name of the HDPE marine.. Now I can try to search for it locally. I am sick of ordering and waiting on things lately. Unfortunately that store is closed on weekends, but I'll find somewhere that is open.
I would happily sacrifice a kitchen cutting board if I could even find a retailer that sells HDPE cutting boards. Most are plastic laminated MDF board.

Yep, still running the old Lund...11 years now!

My oldest is 8 and really getting into fishing. We've done some minor adjustments to the boat (changed rod holder locations, slid the bimini top more forward, etc.) and it's now very comfortable for 3 people fishing. We live in Everett and the closest large lake is Stevens so we've been focusing on Kokanee.

Hdpe is great for certain things, but it has its quirks. Glue doesn't stick to it easily, until you pass a propane torch quickly across the surface to be glued. That flamed surface will accept glue for about 30 minutes before having to re-torch. Most epoxy adhesives will work with hdpe in this manor.

This polyethylene is awesome! I have used it to make bases to support different things. I made a base to support a full size (albeit a smaller Scotty DR) on my Kayak.
Then I wanted to run my transducer off the H-rail via transom, so McGuivered a piece of Poly, to do so. Colored it in with a black sharpie marker.

Polypropylene plastic is similar looking to hdpe (polyethylene) cutting boards, but not quite as durable in some ways. It weighs much less though, and is glued much more reliably. Its also really easy to heat and bend to shape with a heat gun or torch. Nice work! Way to get on it!

Last time I purchased Starboard I ordered through Amazon. It was a Amazon Prime purchase so I got it in 2 days. It was a special purchase, I needed 1.5" sheet to fab into a couple custom hinges.

Tap Plastics wa totally cool. They just cut me my initial piece and gave it for free.

Anybody know what the difference between hdpe (cutting board plastic) and starboard is? Using the link above, I noticed "king" branded hdpe, ldpe and starboard plastics listed separately...Must be different somehow? maybe just a coast guard approval?

I'm late to the party but yep, definitely Tap Plastic. They have the "King" brand, which is suppose to be more uniform and flat or so it claims.

Great thing about Tap Plastic is, they will cut to order. I was pricing some Starboard a while back. Tap was the cheapest.

I'm going to be using sa sheet of Starboard as a mounting plate for my onboard charger, so the metal body of the charger wont touch the aluminum body to prevent electrolysis. I will also be using a strip of it, to act as a stopping block for a modified battery tray.
