Squidding starting?
Squidding starting?
Anyone starting their 2015 squidding yet?
I was a Lync's shop getting a license and he was saying people are reporting decent numbers at Edmonds Pier.
I also was curious about hours of piers. Is there somewhere online that states the hours of piers? Or is it pretty much based on knowing the pier and the hours. Was thinking about heading over to Edmonds to give it a shot as I've got a pretty un-eventful night ahead of me.

I think I know who you are talking about - but I'm sure at this point he hasn't even shown up yet. But he will arrive around October(ish)....Diverdoyle wrote:anyone know if theres a person that sales jigs on the edmonds peir still ??
The number of people squidding has been few (so far). Chinook catching... oh hell hooking into... off the Edmonds pier has been a major failure for those considering spending a day that consists of 1,001 casts from the Edmonds pier.

I bought two heavy punk jigs years ago from a person up north that sold jigs next to a huge generator but they was the best jigs I had for a long time and list them so was just trying to narrow down the piers I remember it was up north maybe even mukilteo

If it's who I think it is.... I've seen his jigs for sale at Ted's Sporting Goods (in the past). The guy makes them himself (or so he says). They do work pretty well.

Damn! Used to be a Nov-Dec thing, then a Sept thing... I saw a posting a couple weeks ago of squid success and my jaw hit the floor!

There is a summer run and winter run of squid. Grown ups come and lay eggs winter, babies out migrate in summer.

find them in fish stomachs year round, guess you can catch them any month of the year if you know where to look and what to use.

A buddy of mine was testing out his new light setup last night at the Edmonds pier and pulled in a few. They're there

Re: Squidding starting?
Wow, that is awesome catch! What kind of technique/tackles did he use?

Re: Squidding starting?
He was just jigging off the pier. We used to use my generator for light, but the engine was rebuilt last year and it ran really loud. Like insane jet engine loud. You couldn't even hear yourself think. He's been talking about building a new quite light set up for a while. This one is a marine battery with an ac/dc inverter and an LED light. No more gas, no loud noises. It's silent. Gear he used was a standard trout pole and the jigs are ones I got from Teds in Lynnwood, but are similar to the ones the guys sells on the pier during the winter run. You can find the jigs in Seattle at Linc's and Outdoor Emporium as well.

I want to make one but having trouble figuring out the waterproof part.
I was thinking of using a car headlight and making a waterproof box that I can float it on the water with...
