Cat fish

Post by ken baker » Thu Jul 28, 2011 7:42 pm

I would really like to catch some catfish. Not the little bull heads but the channel cats. I live in Tacoma and I am willing to drive anywhere within an hour to an hour and a half if I have to. I dont want to go to eastern wa if I dont have to. So, that being said! Where can I get me some catfish??? Thanks to who ever helps me out!

I did a search on "catfish" in the freshwater forum - I knew I remembered seeing another string on it...

I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

Swofford pond is really the only reliable place to pick up a channel on the westside. I've been wanting to pick one up for a while too, but it will probably involve a lot of driving for me. Apparently the yakima river has some in it too, and that's over the pass though.

Not sure about catfishing the west side, but if you can take a few days, travel to the Tri-cities and fish the mouth of the Yakima, Snake River and Walla Walla River and you will be in catfish heaven. Lots of channel cats and some blues. You would have to take a few days though.
