Some decent fishing at Lost Lake in Cowlitz County up from Packwood Lake. Warning, it is a 8.25 mile hike into the lake. Fishing this past Friday and Saturday gave me 8 trout over 12". I used a variety of rooster tails (barbs clipped). The favorite seemed to be a yellow shaft with red dots and a silver flasher. The favorite non-rooster tails was an old hot rod that was red with a white stripe. That in itself caught 3 fish.
Wish I had flies with me. Midges were on a hatch. Would have posted on the fishing report but this lake is not listed.

Sounds awesome! You gotta love those mountain cutties! A few years ago a partner and I hiked into another Lost Lake (Chelan County) on one of our "ruck up and go" weekends. While this was one of our shorter trips in terms of miles, the terrain was tough. After fishing Merrill Lake on the way in for some brookies, we headed over the mountain and arrived at Lost at about 3:00. Being that we usually pack light on food (except for candy, energy bars, and potatoes), we immediately broke out our fly rods and attempted to catch dinner. For nearly two hours we threw all kinds of patterns to no avail, and despite seeing bugs on the water, we didn't see a single sign of a fish, nothing, notta, zip. Just as I convinced myself we had chosen a dead lake, it happened.....a single, solitary rise. At the flick of a switch the fish turned on and we were able to get several apiece on various dry patterns.
I prefer pan-fried brookies but those cutties saved the day and helped fill our bellies! And they were more cooperative the following morning when it came time for breakfast, fattening us up for the hike out.
