Bottom banner ads
RE:Bottom banner ads
Its getting worse, it used to only happen once every 10 times I logged on, now it happens EVERY time!
RE:Bottom banner ads
I wont be renewing my premium membership when it is due unless the intrusive ads are removed for paying members. Non paying sure have as many pop up as you want. I am finding them really irritating now.

RE:Bottom banner ads
I seem to spend more time clicking adds off than actually navigating the site. Instead of fun, becoming something different!

RE:Bottom banner ads
Aaron has informed me that he will be coding the site so the premium members do not have the dashboard ad on the bottom of the pages. Give him a little time to get this set up. Rest assured we have heard you.sickbayer wrote:I wont be renewing my premium membership when it is due unless the intrusive ads are removed for paying members. As to banner frequency, I am on the site (off course) constantly and for me the ad may appear 2-3 times a day. If it's appearing constantly that would not be consistant with what we were informed it would be like. In fact, we were told specifically that it is designed to not show up too frequently as it loses it's effectiveness.
Personally, the ad doesn't bother me much and clicking the little "close" box seems like a pretty small thing to ask of non-members that are surfing the site for free. If we get enough complaints obviously that would change our thinking. We are trying to strike a balance. We have 40-45,000 unique users visit the site every month. Of those, we have around 200 or so active Premium Members. In any given month we get about 6 new premium members. So in other words, of all the anglers that come on the site, approximately .5% support it monetarily (plus get the enhanced features). Don't get me wrong - Aaron and I appreciate every person that visits, whether they become Premium Members or not, but as the site grows we are going to have to find ways to support the growth.
Hope that helps explain our position and thanks for understanding.

RE:Bottom banner ads
Thanks Mike and Aaron. I don't like the ads that pop up, but it's no big deal to click the little box. Now I can even pretty much not see the ad while I'm clicking the little box and reading the thread titles to see what thread I want to open.

RE:Bottom banner ads
They seem to have stoped for me. haven`t seen them at all today.
RE:Bottom banner ads
Alright, now the add is popping up literally every time I open a page! Come on man, this is rediculous!
RE:Bottom banner ads
Give Aaron and Mike time. They don't like it either, but the sponsers want their monies worth and negociating is going on. They'll have to modify their ads and that usually takes time also, to rewrite the code and stuff for an ad.

RE:Bottom banner ads
I've been on and off the site all day today and saw the ad 3 times. I've never had it load more than 3-4 times in a day, so it's a mystery why you two are seeing the ad non-stop. I'll ask the sponsor but again, my understanding is it only loads randomly and not frquenly. Sorry that's not your experience.
RE:Bottom banner ads
I see it when I first log in each day but I don't think it's that big of deal since it's supporting the site.....
thanks

I like the one on bottom with the truck on it, it's cool. I like trucks.
I'm guessing these are PPC type ads. I've had a number of forums and revenues were higher with fixed or PPI type ads, not many people clicked on the PPC stuff. TLA usually paid well. but you guys may have enough impressions to help justify the lower click-through rate. good luck on it either way, tinkering can be so frustrating. You try to make one little change and it creates a snowball of bugs... i know. LOL

RE:Bottom banner ads
Just an FYI, Aaron made the switch so if you are a Premium Member the bottom dashboard ad will no longer display.
RE:Bottom banner ads
i haven't seen it lately, and to be honest, it wasn't that big of a deal to begin with. at least for me. i didn't mind clicking 'close' once in a while. this is a great site and i appreciate all that mike and aaron do, and the fact that sponsors help pay the bills so we can all enjoy this site. a minor inconvenience at best, there is no perfect world, even on the internet...
fishing may not be life, but it's a great alternative
RE:Bottom banner ads

RE:Bottom banner ads
