Hi all,

I just received the WDFW News Release email regarding shellfish catch record cards and their due date for reporting. To avoid the 2011 $10.00 penalty for not reporting our catch, our catch record card reports are due either by mail or online by October 10th 2010. I know everyone is aware of this but I wanted to put it out there to remind everyone so they can save the ten bucks for lunch or some tackle.

Here is part of the news release pertaining to this topic:

All sport fishers licensed to fish for crab in Puget Sound must submit summer catch reports to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) by Oct. 10 - whether or not they caught crab this year.

Crabbers may submit catch record cards to WDFW by mail at CRC Unit, 600 Capitol Way N., Olympia, WA 98501-1091. They can also report their catch online at https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/wdfw/puget_ ... catch.html from Sept. 7 through Oct. 10.

Crabbers who fail to file their catch reports on time will face a $10 fine when they purchase a 2011 Puget Sound crab endorsement.

**** Sport crabbers who continue to crab in areas of Puget Sound that remain open after Labor Day should record catches on their winter catch cards, said Rich Childers, shellfish policy lead for WDFW.****

Childers noted that this year’s reporting deadline has been extended by more than two weeks to give crabbers more time to file their reports. Those who meet the deadline will be entered in a drawing for one of 10 free 2011 combination fishing licenses, which allow the holder to fish for a variety of freshwater and saltwater species.

You bet. I see over 200 people read this post so hopefully a few who may have forgotten will remember and save the ten bucks. I reported mine and my wife's yesterday. I also copied and pasted the confirmation number to a word document which I printed and stapled the catch record cards to. That way if for some reason someone at the State's end makes a mistake, I have proof that I reported my catch.

i ALLLWAYS turn my cards in and EVERY year i get a "fine" for not reporting....
lil light came on this year (in a kinda dim place) and we mailed 'em in seperate envelopes....
so ? next year it'll tick me off because i DONT get a fine...hmmmm....DOG
