time to replace the carpet

Hey there,
I have a 21ft 2001 bayliner Capri. The boat is actually set up more for playing on lake Washington than in the salt or fishing. I've replaced the original carpet once and now that carpet is heavily worn out and needs replacing. I would love to pull that carpet out and install something other than carpet. Any suggestions on where to start and look? I am FAR from being knowledgeable about stuff like this and am fully aware that I will probably get myself neck deep in something that I know nothing about, but the boat is looking a bit raggedy and I'd like to spruce her up a bit.

Some suggest the roll on coating. Its pricy though. Im really getting tired of snaggin my hooks in my carpet and am thinking about switching to the roll on my self.

they make a sheet good comes in a roll....think its a glue down..has like a textured plasticy looking surface...wouldnt say its the best place to buy it but i know Cabelas has it in catalog so u could see what it is....<shrugs>..DOG

Thanks guys. I got on line and ordered several of the Cabelas yesterday. Hopefully I'll find something good and useful.

ok dont know what ya ordered but....no matter what u put down final cleaning before you start to apply it is the MOST important step.....this goes for ANY fiberglass work too...buy some acetone....use a clean white cotton rag and wipe,wipe,'n wipe it again....careful of the fumes.....DOG

I wonder about that garage floor paint that you throw speckles on. My new puppies have completely ruined the carpet on my covered patio and I'm thinking about using that. I would think that it's durable and easy to clean. Just maybe want to seal the decking prior to application.

Ya hewesfisher, I was thinking about adding some sand to the paint that I'd use on the steps. Then maybe some runner rugs on the deck itself. It's covered and actually stays pretty dry even in the winter.

LOL, I'm so sorry guys for not getting back to you. I'm working down here in La (Fort Polk) and not getting the time I used to have on the website.

Thanks for info. With me being down here and home only for a few days of the month, not sure how much time I'll get this year to do what I was hoping too.

well glad all is well atleast....i myself had the "pleasure" of being sent to Polk TDY manyyy times.....i'm sure it's still a lovely place....i have fond memmories of hours 'n hours try'n to get gumbo mud washed off my jeep lololol....hope you get a chance to wet a line down there....GL....DOG

Did my Basic Training at Fort Polk back in '66. Company C, 1st Battalion, 5th Training Brigade. Under the command of Cpt. John J. VeMeer & First Sargeant Taitano. We weren't far from Tiger Land. I don't know if Tiger Land is still there or not, but it was one tough training outfit for infantry GI's heading to Vietnam. We were housed in the old World War II, wooden two story barracks. I'll never forget all the red clay and pea gravel. Thanks for the memories.

Tiger land is alive and well. I've been spending time down here for the past 6 months or so and from what I hear from the guys that were here 7-10 years ago even, there have been many improvements. Good Ol Fort Polk continues to be a key final destination for our troops preparing to deploy. Old barracks are being replaced slowly but surely by updated versions. We work closely with 162nd infantry. I'll post a pic soon for those who have gone through these grounds (just for memories sake).
