Deleting Sent Messages
MAN! There should really be a way to delete sent messages. It seems like it's taking up a lot of band width, but what do I know. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE figure out how we can delete those antique "Sent Messages."

I doubt it will have any effect on your browsing or anything related to you computer. I wouldn't worry about it.

RE:Deleting Sent Messages
Yes Mike. We can delete PMs from our inbox, but cannot do so from our sent box. Marc, while it won't affect Lotech's browsing, or anyone else's for that matter, not having the ability to delete sent messages does use up forum storage. At present, every PM ever sent by a member is retained indefinitely since there is no delete option. I don't think Aaron has an "auto prune" feature set up for sent messages either since every one I've sent since being a member is still in my sent box.Mike Carey wrote:do you mean when you send a PM?Lotech Joe wrote:MAN! Sorry for bitching,
We used to have the same issue for our inbox, but Aaron added the delete feature quite awhile back. I delete unneeded messages from my inbox on a regular basis, but cannot do the same for sent messages.
I, too, think it would be nice to be able to delete old sent messages.

RE:Deleting Sent Messages
I was going to bring up another point as well, why can't we delete our forum posts? I understand not being able to delete a thread once it has had replies and is underway, but I think we should be able to delete individual forum posts. For me it is mostly about deleting double posts, or other errors that occur accidentally.
I just made a double post and it reminded me that this would be very helpful.

RE:Deleting Sent Messages
It is the way the system is set up. Only Administrators and Moderators can delete a post. The system is set up so a person can delete not just one post, but all posts.
You can "edit" your post by deleting all your text, but the post will still remain, just a blank thread post.
Contact a mod and we will delete a post for you.
If you make a double post, copy the URL and send a PM to a mod with the address and we will delete it. No big deal. That's what we are here for.

RE:Deleting Sent Messages
Different versions of forum software have different features.
Read the bottom of the page: "Powered by Yet Another Forum.net version 1.9.1.8 (NET v2.0)" http://yetanotherforum.net/
The forum software is a Software Package Mike and Aaron use. They did not create it and may not be able to make the changes requested.
My club uses http://www.simplemachines.org/ for its forum software. As the admin, I can check and uncheck boxes to allow or disallow features and functions. I CAN NOT, however, change the coding to enable features that dont already exhist.

RE:Deleting Sent Messages
Not a problem with double replies/posts. Same with double threads. When I see that I delete one. The software does that at times. Not often enough to worry about it.
